Pete Davidson's upcoming comedy shows get canceled till January 3 due to 'unforeseen circumstances'
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: A number of Pete Davidson's comedy shows have been precipitously called off. The comedian, 30, bowed out of his show at New York City's Beacon Theatre on Friday, December 22, the venue announced in an Instagram Story post, providing no reason for the cancellation.
The Beacon Theatre also confirmed that Davidson will not be appearing at another scheduled show there this weekend.
Beacon Theatre's statement after Pete Davison's shows were cancelled
“Please be advised that the Pete Davidson performances scheduled to take place at the Beacon Theatre on Friday, December 22, and Saturday, December 23, have been canceled,” the theater wrote.
According to Deadline, ticketholders were made aware of the show cancellation in an email, just a couple of hours before the event was set to start. They were automatically refunded, the outlet added. All of Davidson’s shows have been canceled up until January 3, according to Ticketmaster. His next scheduled event is set for January 4 in Milwaukee.
Reason for Pete Davidson's upcoming show cancellations
Messages shared on the websites for Chattanooga's Walker Theatre, Pittsburgh's Byham Theater and Milwaukee's Riverside Theater state that the upcoming cancellations were due to "unforeseen circumstances." Davidson’s latest show cancellations come after he and John Mulaney postponed two comedy shows in the wake of the mass shootings in Lewiston, Maine, in October.
"We are devastated by the events in Lewiston," Mulaney, 41, said in a statement at the time. "Shows scheduled for this weekend in Maine on Saturday, 10/28 and Sunday, 10/29 have been postponed. We are thinking of you all," Mulaney added.
Pete Davidson previously canceled shows
Davidson also previously canceled a handful of shows, in which he would be "working out new material with friends," that were scheduled for July. That month, he was ordered to do community service and go to traffic school after he was charged with reckless driving for crashing his car into a Los Angeles-area home in March.
In June, he reportedly checked in to a rehab facility, according to the reports of People and Today.com.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said in a statement to USA Today at the time that Davidson was placed on an 18-month diversion program, which includes a hospital and morgue visit "or the New York equivalent" 12 hours of traffic school, 50 hours of community service and restitution, all of which can be completed from New York.
