Pope Leo's posting spree after first tweet from papal X account shows striking similarities to Trump

VATICAN CITY: After taking over the role as the head of the Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIV posted his very first message on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, May 14.
From the official papal account, @Pontifex, the 69-year-old pontiff shared, “Peace be with you all! This is the first greeting spoken by the Risen Christ, the Good Shepherd. I would like this greeting of peace to resound in your hearts, in your families, and among all people, wherever they may be, in every nation and throughout the world.”

Pope Leo XIV asks world leaders to meet him and seek peace
However, that was not it, as he soon returned and went on a posting spree, similar to what President Donald Trump frequently does on his Truth Social platform, as per The Daily Beast.

“There is so much violence and so many wars in our world! Amid this horror that should provoke outrage—as people die in the name of military conquest—stands the call of Christ, who repeats: ‘Peace be with you!’” his second tweet read.

Pope Leo also urged the world’s leaders to seek negotiation instead of war.

In another tweet, he wrote, “The Holy See is willing to help enemies meet, so they may look each other in the eye and so people may be given back the dignity they deserve: the dignity of peace. With heart in hand, I say to the leaders of nations: let us meet; let us dialogue; let us negotiate!”

Pope Leo XIV expresses his concern over the ongoing wars
Reiterating his call for peace, Pope Leo wrote in another post, “War is never inevitable. Weapons can and must fall silent, for they never solve problems but only intensify them. Those who sow peace will endure throughout history, not those who reap victims. Others are not enemies to hate but human beings with whom to speak.”

Leo XIV’s tweets were in accordance with his first Sunday address, in which he mentioned the Gaza war, the Russia-Ukraine war, and the tensions between India and Pakistan.
He said, as per BBC, “I would also like to address the powerful people of the world, repeating the always current call: 'no more war'.”

Pope Leo XIV claimed the world's 'facing the tragedy of a third world war in pieces'
“The immense tragedy of the Second World War ended 80 years ago... now we're facing the tragedy of a third world war in pieces,” Pope Leo said. Interestingly, Donald Trump has also frequently warned that the world is on the brink of a third world war.

The 69-year-old further expressed, “I carry in my heart the suffering of the beloved Ukrainian people. And I am deeply hurt by what is happening in the Gaza Strip. May a ceasefire immediately come into effect.”
“I was happy to hear on the other hand that there was a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, and I hope that through the coming negotiations we might soon come to a lasting accord,” the bishop of Rome added.
