LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Celebrity properties such as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, George Clooney, Lady Gaga, and Halle Berry are being targeted by nature's wrath due to severe storms that are hitting California.

An extended weather phenomenon known as the 'Pineapple Express' is wreaking havoc throughout several areas in the Sunshine State, including the affluent neighborhoods of Beverly Hills, Malibu, and Montecito.

One of the affected places is Santa Barbara, where Harry and Meghan reside with their two kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Evacuations have been issued in certain areas of the US state, and millions of people have been advised to prepare for "life-threatening" flooding, per The Mirror.

There is a tight "flood watch" over Harry and Meghan, the royal couple living in their $14.65 million property in Montecito.

Their home is a sanctuary with two hugging palm trees and a large piano, situated in a county that is predicted to be deluged with 5.1 inches of rain, per Daily Mail.

Clips from Santa Barbara's police department showed a dismal scene as waters in Mission Creek erupted, turning roadways into torrents, only a few miles from Harry and Meghan's home with Archie and Lilibet.

Meanwhile, torrential rain is plaguing star-studded Malibu, and the city is under a coastal flood warning as the National Weather Service (NWS) advises locals to avoid the water due to "dangerous surf conditions."

Celeb properties affected by Pineapple Express

Perfectly timed to coincide with the glitzy Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, the tempest forced a hasty tent assembly over the red carpet to protect the stars from the weather.

In the wee hours of Monday, February 5, 16 individuals were saved by Los Angeles firefighters from nine Studio City residences, which is the same neighborhood where George Clooney resides in his opulent $2.2 million mansion.

The property was once owned by Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks, but the Hollywood actor recently renovated it from a bachelor pad to an opulent home suitable for his wife Amal Clooney and their five-year-old twins Ella and Alexander.

Residents of the opulent seaside community include Halle Berry, who has a $8.5 million estate with an outdoor jacuzzi that she often flaunts on Instagram.

The five baths and four bedrooms of the 5,000 square foot mansion owned by the former 'Bond Girl' actress, 57, each have a private terrace, and the actress' preferred bedroom has breathtaking views of the sea.

Along with her huge Malibu estate, Lady Gaga is the owner of the same venue from where Bradley Cooper urged her to accept the Oscar for the film 'A Star Is Born.'

The singer paid an impressive $24 million for the six-acre property in 2014. The lavish Mediterranean-style mansion boasts a clifftop view of Zuma Beach.

Despite the placement of enormous sandbags to avoid landslides, apocalyptic pictures have emerged in the seaside city, with water and sludge flowing down some of the streets.

'Pineapple Express' is an example of strong atmospheric river

According to the National Ocean Service, the 'Pineapple Express' is a popular illustration of a powerful atmospheric river, when moisture accumulates in the tropical Pacific around Hawaii, causing torrential precipitation and snowfall to batter the West Coasts of both the United States and Canada.

A large portion of the moisture that is transported from the tropics to northern latitudes is carried by atmospheric rivers, which are slender areas in the atmosphere.

The ocean water cycle on Earth includes atmospheric rivers, which are intimately related to flood hazards and water availability.

This "river," which forms as part of the global conveyor belt across the Pacific, is created when dominant winds cross over warm bands of tropical water vapor.

The Pineapple Express can bring five inches of rain to California in a single day when it reaches the west coast.

Although atmospheric rivers can take on various forms and sizes, the ones with the highest concentrations of water vapor and the strongest winds are the ones that cause intense precipitation and consequent floods.

These occurrences can have an impact on the whole west coast of North America, frequently causing travel disruptions and property damage in the process.
