Prince Harry slammed as a ‘broken record’ by William’s pals as apology demand widens rift between brothers
LONDON, UK: Prince Harry has been blasted by allies of Prince William after he reportedly demanded an apology from the future king.
Pals of the Duke of Cambridge told The Daily Beast, “Harry is a broken record at this stage. We all know he would love to be given a part-time royal role, but Queen Elizabeth was very clear that he couldn’t be half in and half out. Nothing has changed.”
“Whoever is promulgating these ludicrous theories on Harry’s behalf is simply pretending to not get the message that he is not wanted. They are either very thick or pretending to be,” they added.
Prince William and Prince Harry are not on speaking terms for years
The statement came after a Mirror report said that the Duke of Sussex could “help out” his family in the UK but on one condition, if his elder brother would say sorry to him.
The rift between the brothers has continued to grow after Harry along with his wife Meghan Markle stepped down from royal duties and shifted their base to the US.
The Sussexes even made several serious allegations against their relatives while appearing in a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021. Besides, Harry’s book ‘Spare’ made the situation worse.
William and Harry attend Lord Robert Fellowes’ funeral together despite differences
Amid all the family drama, the brothers attended their uncle Lord Robert Fellowes’ funeral in Norfolk but did not reportedly interact with each other.
Reports said that the younger son of King Charles and the late Princess Diana stayed with his maternal uncle Charles Spencer.
A source told Vanity Fair, “Behind the scenes, the Spencers have been working hard to get the brothers to reconcile. They understand William’s hurt at Harry’s betrayal, but they also understand Harry’s position because of the way Diana was treated by the Windsors.”
They also noted, “Harry is still very close to his mother’s family. If anyone can mediate between the brothers it will be Jane,” referring to Diana’s elder sister.
Harry and William both respect Princess Diana’s sister Jane
Besides, as per friends of the Spencers, who told The Daily Beast, “It was probably always going to be a funeral that brought the boys together under one roof, and the fact that William didn’t boycott it because Harry was going to be there has cast a glimmer of hope in an otherwise deeply depressing impasse.”
They explained, “They both adore Jane [Princess Diana’s elder sister, Lady Jane Fellowes, Robert’s widow], and it’s absolutely right that they were both there out of respect for her. It’s an important recognition of the fact that blood is thicker than water.”
“It’s a mature, promising sign that their private disagreements are not going be allowed to overshadow important family events,” the insiders asserted.
