Prince Harry tried to reach out to estranged royal family for over a year before explosive BBC interview

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Prince Harry has been trying to reconcile with his estranged family for over a year before sitting down for an explosive interview with the BBC on Friday, May 2, the Daily Express US reported.
The tell-all interview came days after the Duke of Sussex lost a legal appeal to have his security reinstated when he and his family visited the United Kingdom after they stepped away from their royal duties and shifted to the United States in 2020.
"I would love a reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has," he stated in the interview, earning widespread backlash from loyalists of the royal family.
Prince Harry has been trying to reach out to royal family for more than a year, claims insider
A London-based insider told the publication that the 40-year-old Duke of Sussex is eager to reconnect with his estranged family and has been trying to make amends over the last year.

"For over a year, Harry has been actively reaching out to former friends of his and William from their Eton and London partying days in an effort to open dialogue with King Charles and William," said the source.
"Harry even reached out to several courtiers of Charles and his late mother in an effort to re-establish communication outside of emails," the insider added.
King Charles has been battling an undisclosed form of cancer since February 2024. In the BBC interview, Harry claimed that he was not on speaking terms with the 76-year-old monarch.

The source added that Harry "has not been able to pick up the phone directly to try and work through the issues," as he has been "pretty much cut off from direct contact."
Royal family silent on Prince Harry's reconciliation pleas
Prince William is reportedly aware of his brother's efforts for reconciliation, but "these attempts have not been treated with anything other than silence," the insider further said.
"That mantra was set down by the late Queen, and Harry has definitely gone against that stance since he left senior royal life and England. Truthfully, it may need a miracle for healing," they continued.
"At the heart of their anger is the explosive interview Harry and Meghan did with Oprah Winfrey, where they alleged the family was racist," the insider added.
Harry's memoir, titled 'Spare', included a retelling of a heated argument between him and William, which is considered by many close to the royal family as the final straw in a potential reconciliation.
