Prince Harry wants to support Kate Middleton despite rift but feels like 'proper outsider' in royal family
LONDON, UK: Prince Harry is reportedly "confused" and heartbroken over his and Meghan Markle's estrangement from the royal family, according to sources.
Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020 and relocating to the United States, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have had limited contact with senior members of the royal family and have made only a few trips back to the UK.
Prince Harry sees himself as 'a proper outsider'
A source told Closer magazine that Harry, who was not invited to the recent Trooping the Colour ceremony, feels like an outsider. "He’s heartbroken and confused by the way they’ve cut him off and seemingly haven’t given it another thought," the insider said.
“Harry was very upset and emotional when he saw the footage of Kate (Middleton) at Trooping the Colour.”
Harry was reportedly very emotional seeing footage of Kate Middleton at the event, especially since learning of her cancer diagnosis. The source claims Harry has been "so worried" about the Princess of Wales and has managed to connect with her on a few occasions, but not as often as he would like.
The insider added, "He would have dearly loved to have been there if only to congratulate and support Kate in person on what must have been an incredibly difficult day for her."
The Sussexes' absence from this year's Trooping the Colour, the second year in a row they have not attended, has reportedly saddened Harry. "The fact he’s got to watch on TV or via the internet from 6,000 miles away just made him so sad. It really hammers home how he’s a proper outsider at this point," the source noted.
Despite the distance, Harry remains proud of Kate and is encouraged by her apparent good health and spirit, “He’s incredibly proud of her and encouraged that she obviously has very good doctors and appeared to be healthy and in good spirits.”
“But the fact he can’t bond with his beloved sister-in-law in person is a kick in the guts and something he finds incredibly difficult to live with,” they added.
Recently, there have been reports that Harry and Meghan are eager to reconnect with Kate, and they had reached out to her before her recent public appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
Prince Harry wishes to support Kate Middleton 'in person'
The news of Prince Harry's desire to support his sister-in-law Kate Middleton amid their royal family estrangement has triggered a flurry of reactions online, highlighting diverse opinions on the matter.
One user expressed skepticism about Harry's confusion, writing, "He quit his job and abandoned his family, at his wife's insistence, FOUR YEARS ago. He's just figuring out now what that meant? But, yes, I can imagine he sincerely doesn't understand. Meg told him it would be fine to write all those hurtful things."
Another user critiqued Harry's lack of self-awareness, stating, "The fact that Harry is 'confused' about the reason his family has cut him off shows that he doesn't have the ability to engage in self-reflection. He seems to be unaware that his own behavior caused the rift."
Another user wrote, "Of course he and Meghan would like to reconnect with Princess Kate. Not saying Harry doesn't care for his sister-in-law, but he would have an ulterior motive--it would be good PR for Harry and Meghan. And that seems to be the motivating force behind everything they do--fake sympathy and caring to desensitize the stigma of their betrayal. It would make their (paid) Hollywood spin doctors so happy if the Royal Family would provide him with some good, cheap PR! "
"This will be the subject of their next NETFLOPS documentary. Look how kind we are and I even sent PRINCESS CATE some jam." a user wrote.
"Well, I imagine that 'Spare' was a modestly successful book. However, the title of Harry's next book will almost certainly be 'Despair'," another user wrote.
