Prince Harry’s pal calls him an ‘angry boy’ despite high-spirited Colombia tour with Meghan Markle
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's recent four-day royal-style tour of Colombia grabbed a lot of attention.
Prince Harry, who appeared to be in high spirits while salsa dancing and basking in the spotlight with Meghan Markle, seemed to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of their quasi-royal trip.
However, a close friend of Harry's reveals that beneath the surface, the Duke of Sussex is grappling with hidden anger and frustration, yearning instead to be in Britain with his friends and family.
Is Prince Harry missing his old life?
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wrapped up their vibrant trip in Cali on August 18 with Markle delivering a speech in Spanish on 'Afro Women and Power', as per Dailymail.
In an interview, a friend revealed that they are among the few who still receive occasional WhatsApp messages from Harry. The friend described him as "an angry boy" and noted, "I think he misses being over here [in Britain] desperately and wants to be admired more. Anyone who knows him feels he'd rather be top of the pops here with everyone loving him, as they do with William and Kate."
Another source, familiar with Harry since his teenage years, confirmed that the duke is missing his old life, including pub nights and enjoying the English countryside with friends.
"He has ended up isolated from his family and most of his old mates, in an environment where your friendships are not like the ones you forged as a young man," the source said.
"He used to love a night out in the pub and hanging out in the country with friends."
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Colombia tour sparks discussion
As Prince Harry's friends revealed key insights into the duke's mindset following his four-day trip to Colombia, people on the internet shared their views on Harry's predicament.
One person claimed, “This is the Meghan show now and it's painfully obvious that Harry doesn't really have a place in it. He seems to just be there as a prop and that must be difficult for him to come to terms with. I think he must eventually become very bitter and disillusioned as she's putting him in a position that she keeps saying women shouldn't be in - a place with no voice.”
The other claimed, “They are both looking happier and more relaxed than they were before.”
One person said, “Maybe he had in mind a new style court circular that would simply list the pubs he would be visiting over the next month along with roughly the Hardylike locations in which he would be lounging around in fields of gold. All with a full security contingent of course.”
Another stated, “He might look happy but his eyes say something else and it's all down to his controlling wife.”
The last wrote, “Harry was certainly one of my favourite royals, before he married that whinging nobody. Now he's lost his family due to her whose only with him for what she can get.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s memorable moments during Colombia tour
At the Afro Women and Power forum in Cali, Meghan Markle called Colombia's vice president, Francia Marquez, "mi amiga (my friend)". Meghan received a cheer when she said, "Sorry if my Spanish is not perfect because I learned 20 years ago in Argentina but I'm trying because here I can feel this community and this feeling which is the best in the world."
On Sunday, Marquez showed the couple around Cali, known as the salsa capital. The visit followed a stop at Escuela Tambores de Cabildo in Cartagena, where they tried drumming after a performance by the students. School founder Rafael Ramos said, "I love seeing Meghan's big, big smile. I can tell she's excited."
Afterward, the couple learned about the importance of preserving the region's Afro-Colombian culture. This echoed Prince William and Kate Middleton's visit to Jamaica in March 2022, where they played bongos in Trench Town, Kingston. In contrast, the Sussexes avoided public interaction during their trip.
The final part of the tour included a visit to San Basilio de Palenque, an Afro-Caribbean village, where they enjoyed a performance by local rapper Afroneto. Josefa Hernandez, 38, who was the master of ceremonies, said, "This visit has been very symbolic for us."
