Purr-son of the year: Fans love Taylor Swift's Time cover with cat Benjamin Button wrapped around her neck

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a purr-fectly unexpected move, Taylor Swift has been crowned Time magazine’s 2023 Person of the Year, and she's sharing the spotlight with her adorable cat, Benjamin Button.

The 12-time Grammy winner didn't miss a beat, posing confidently in a black long-sleeve bodysuit and tights with Benjamin draped around her neck like a stylish accessory.

Swift took to Instagram to humorously share the unconventional cover, playfully captioning it, “Time Magazine: We’d like to name you Person of the Yea-... Me: Can I bring my cat.”

It seems Swifties, her loyal and beloved fan base, weren't shocked by the feline addition, as the 'Lovers' singers love for cats, including Scottish Fold, Meredith Grey who she brought home in 2011, and Olivia Benson also a Scottish Fold, who she got in 2014.

During an Instagram Live session alongside Panic! at the Disco frontman Brendon Urie, Swift shared the story of how she brought Benjamin home with her following the music video shoot for 'ME!' Describing him as a "cute kitten who didn't have a home," she mentioned his participation in a program aimed at promoting kitten adoption through commercials.

A handler offered Swift the chance to hold the kitten before their scene, "and he just starts purring and … he looks at me like, 'You're my mom, and we're going to live together.' I fell in love. I looked at Brendon and he's like, 'You're going to get the cat, aren't you?'" After a few days, Swift introduced Benjamin to the world through an Instagram post captioned, "And then there were three…"

A user tweeted, "That's the spirit." Another playfully advocated for Taylor's other two cats left at home, stating, "Justice for meredith and olivia."

One individual shared a picture of their cat sitting, commenting, "When you have to stay home while mom takes the other cat."

In a tweet, someone mockingly revealed, "Plot twist: The honor was intended for Benjamin and he asked Time Magazine if he could bring you. (Seriously, though: Congrats on this well-deserved honor. You’ve been my Person of the Year and it’s nice to see others recognize you, too )"
