SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO: As the investigation into the deaths of Hollywood legend Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, continues, Randy Quaid has ignited controversy by claiming that the couple was murdered. The 'Kingpin' actor also drew unsettling parallels to the death of Heath Ledger, suggesting a dark connection.
Hackman, 95, and Arakawa, 65, were found dead in their Santa Fe, New Mexico, home on February 26. Authorities have found no signs of foul play and are still working to determine the cause of death.
What did Randy Quaid say about Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa's deaths?
Randy Quaid took to X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, March 1, to share an odd theory regarding the deaths of Gene Hackman and his wife.
The 74-year-old wrote, "Gene Hackman and his wife are murder victims, some scum bags did it and staged it. Stop talking about the films he is in, this is how they get away with murdering famous people!"

He continued, "Fake News starts generating film clips. How is it possible I know at least 6 people who have died like Carradine, Hackman, Ledger?'"

Ledger, 28, tragically died in January 2008 in his New York apartment after overdosing on a mix of prescription drugs, including painkillers, sleeping pills, and anti-anxiety medication, as per the Daily Mail.
Meanwhile, David Carradine, the star of the hit TV series 'Kung Fu' which aired from 1972 to 1975 on ABC, was found dead in his hotel room in Bangkok, Thailand, in June 2009. While initial reports speculated he had died by suicide, a medical examiner who oversaw a private autopsy later clarified that Carradine had died from accidental asphyxiation.
In a subsequent post, Randy, known for peddling bizarre conspiary theories, wrote, "I should become a special FBI agent to these investigations of Hollywood Murders! I already have some good leads on who killed Gene Hackman." However, he did not reveal further details.

Randy Quaid and his wife have a history of criminal records
Randy Quaid's latest viral claim, which has amassed over eight million views, is part of his ongoing conspiracy theory about the so-called "Hollywood Star Whackers." He and his wife, Evi Quaid, believe this mysterious group is behind the deaths of several high-profile celebrities, including Heath Ledger and David Carradine, as detailed in a 2011 Vanity Fair article.
The couple has a history of legal issues. In 2009, they were arrested for allegedly leaving a hotel in Santa Barbara without paying a $10,000 bill.
The following year, they faced charges for squatting in their former Montecito home, where they caused over $5,000 in damages. Claiming they were being targeted by the "Hollywood Star Whackers," the couple fled to Vancouver, Canada in the same year and sought asylum.
They were arrested in 2015 at the US-Canada border while trying to re-enter the US and slapped with fugitive charges. While they were detained in Vermont on outstanding warrants from California, the couple was later released after a judge ruled there wasn't enough legal basis for their extradition.
Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa's deaths are still under investigation
Following the deaths of Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa, police have provided several updates on the case.
Two days after the couple's bodies were discovered, authorities revealed that Hackman likely died on February 17. Investigators discovered that his pacemaker had stopped recording his heartbeat on that day.
As part of the investigation, authorities found a prescription bottle surrounded by pills on the countertop in the couple's home. Three medications were removed from the residence, including Diltiazem (a blood pressure medication), a thyroid medication, and Tylenol, according to a search warrant cited by the Huffington Post.
Santa Fe Sheriff Adam Mendoza shared with 'Today' that the prescription bottle is a point of concern. He confirmed that the medication has been sent to the medical examiner's office to aid in determining the cause of death, though it could take months to receive toxicology results.
Mendoza shared, "We’re looking at that specifically and other medications, of course, that were possibly in the residence. But we’re hoping [the report] comes sooner than later so we can answer some of these questions and hopefully it’ll help us in our investigation to help determine… the matter and cause of death."
