Reba McEntire allegedly warned Kelly Clarkson busy schedule might spell trouble before split from stepson

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Singer Reba McEntire has one biological son, Shelby Blackstock, born to her in 1990 who she shares with her ex-husband, Narvel Blackstock. But Reba has always declared her love for her stepchildren and proudly claims them as her own.

One of her stepchildren is Brandon Blackstock, who is the son of Narvel and Elisa Gayle Ritter. As per reports, McEntire has been quite close to him. Not just that, she also shares a great bond with Brandon’s former wife, Kelly Clarkson.

Singer and 'The Voice' coach, Clarkson had been married to Brandon from 2013 to 2021. They are also parents to daughter River Rose, 9, and son Remington 'Remy' Alexander, 7.

In June of this year, Kelly appeared on ‘Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen’, where she revealed her relationship with the 68-year-old actress.

She reportedly said, “I mean we were friends before Brandon and I got together.”

The 41-year-old singer also shared that she and McEntire used to send messages to each other "all the time” and their bond has not been damaged due to her divorce with Brandon.

Besides, in 2021, McEntire cleared her stance over Clarkson and her stepson’s divorce.

The ‘Big Sky’ actress shared, as per ET Online, “Kelly and I do talk, we text and I love them both, and so I can't play favorites because I've been a friend of Kelly for a long time.”

She further stated, “Brandon's been my son forever it seems. Although he's my stepson, I still love him like he's my total - my blood, so I'm praying for ‘em both 'cause I love ‘em both.”

It has, however, been said that before the split, McEntire had allegedly sent warnings to the ‘Because Of You’ singer regarding her marriage, and also advised her.

A tipster shared, as per Closer Weekly, that McEntire “warned” her former daughter-in-law about her “over the top personality, her busy work schedules and having to always be the center of attention.”

The insider added, “As everyone knows, Kelly has the ability to take over a room, and Brandon is pretty reserved.”

But eventually, Clarkson and Brandon went on their separate paths.

Also, in August 2021, a tipster shared with Us Weekly, “She [Clarkson] hasn’t been dating and has been waiting until she is legally divorced, which will be in the next two weeks.”

The source also added, “She wants a younger, up-and-coming country singer [who] understands the business.”

Clarkson also recently said, “We’ve got to let each other go. This is not working. This is not going to pan out, and it's not working for either of us. And then we have two little kids watching us. And you don’t want to set that example.”
