The couple was recently seen together in New York City on Monday, September 4, sparking buzz online and confirming that their relationship has moved beyond friendship. 

This public appearance comes a year after Witherspoon and her ex-husband Jim Toth ended their nearly 12-year marriage, finalizing their divorce in August 2023. The former couple shares an 11-year-old son, Tennessee.

According to People, several sources have confirmed that Reese Witherspoon and Oliver Haarmann have moved from being friends to dating, following their recent public outing in New York City. This second joint appearance was at an Assouline opening event, which also featured Roger Federer and Anna Wintour. 

Haarmann, a financier, wore khaki-colored pants with a dark belt and matching shoes, complemented by a light-blue button-up shirt and a darker-blue blazer. Witherspoon, the Oscar-winning actress, dazzled in a short-sleeved black dress and matching strappy heels, holding a black coat in her left hand as they strolled together.

An insider described their relationship as "casual," noting, "They’re friends, and it’s just casual." Previously, Witherspoon and Haarmann, a minority owner of the NHL's New York Islanders and founding partner of Searchlight Capital, were spotted in New York City on July 30. They had arrived by helicopter on July 29 and dined at L'Artusi in the West Village the next day.

At that time, a source had told that Witherspoon and Haarmann were simply "friends," with another insider noting that the Legally Blonde star was "taking things slow" with dating.
