WASHINGTON, DC: House Republicans are outraged by rumors that President Joe Biden's first son Hunter has been attending meetings at the White House in recent days.

"Joe and Hunter Biden have a record of selling their last name to foreign adversaries like Russia and China. Having Hunter now engaged in official, executive business only further enhances the urgency for transparency and accountability regarding the Biden family's corrupt business dealings," House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, R-Minn, told Fox News on Wednesday, July 3.

Rep Greg Steube calls Hunter Biden 'a walking national security threat'

Representative Greg Steube, R-Fla, called Hunter Biden "a walking national security threat." "He's raked in more than $20 million from foreign entities, including the CCP, for the Biden [family]. He's also the owner of the FBI-investigated laptop from hell. … Does Hunter have the clearance necessary to sit in on high-level White House meetings with his dad?" Steube told the outlet.

It follows the revelation by NBC News that the first son has recently observed meetings between President Biden and senior White House aides. As per the report, he started attending the sessions after the president came back from Camp David on Monday, July 1.

Rep Scott Fitzgerald says 'Hunter Biden wants Joe Biden to remain president more than anyone'

"Hunter Biden wants Joe Biden to remain president more than anyone in America. He should be worried [about] what a new attorney general would consider criminal activity under a possible Trump administration. No more sweetheart deals the moment his father leaves office," said Rep Scott Fitzgerald, R-Wis.

Hunter Biden has long been a target of Republican scrutiny

Hunter Biden has long been under Republican surveillance. House GOP investigators observing his impeachment have accused him of using his father's political connections and status to enrich himself through foreign business ventures.

Leaders of the House GOP also think that President Biden took part in and profited from the schemes, something he and his supporters have refuted.

Hunter Biden was also recently convicted on three felony firearm charges

In addition, Hunter Biden was found guilty on three felonies related to firearms and now faces additional legal issues as a result of a federal investigation into his tax returns. The latter case is scheduled for trial in September in California.

The report comes as Biden is facing mounting pressure to step aside as the 2024 Democrat presidential nominee after his performance in June 27's CNN debate, with concerns over his advanced age and mental fitness for office plastered across headlines this week.

Rep Andy Ogles on why Hunter Biden wants Joe Biden to stay as the president

Rep Andy Ogles, a Republican from Tennessee, stated on Fox Business's 'Mornings with Maria' that Hunter Biden has a personal stake in maintaining his father's position of authority since it protects him from the harshest scrutiny.

"I think it's probably very predictable that Hunter wants his dad to be in the White House. His best option for protection and immunity going forward is his dad in the White House," Ogles said when asked about the report.

"The moment you have a change of regimes, you're going to have a change of personnel. And suddenly, Hunter is not going to have the umbrella and the protection of his father," he added.

According to the NBC News article, Hunter's unexpected attendance at White House meetings "struck" the aides. "What the hell is happening?" was cited as the response from one.

White House press secretary says Hunter Biden was present during Joe Biden's debate preparation

When asked about the president's son's presence during the debate preparation, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre played down any worries during Tuesday's regular news briefing.

"It is a week where there's going to be more family members who are going to come to the White House. I'm sure you'll see some of them on Fourth of July," she said.

Internet sides with Republicans as they criticize Hunter Biden's presence in White House

Netizens agreed with the Republicans after they criticized the Joe Biden's campaign for allowing Hunter Biden in the White House.

One X (formerly Twitter) user penned, "Everyone should be furious. He's a convicted drug addict. How does he have the clearance to sit in on presidential meetings? Nobody elected. That guy is the president. He's got no damn business sitting in on these meetings. What does this tell us that his dad so incompetent he needs his kid with him."

Another added, "The Biden’s don’t trust anyone at the WH, I would venture to say that Hunter is acting as his personal attorney. Not that Hunter is the most sharpest tool, but he’s family.."

"I would not be surprised if the caterer and custodian is also a part of each briefing. I don’t feel secure that we have any actual intelligent and dedicated person with our county’s interest at heart is in charge with this administration," wrote one user.

Another said, "I would bet he transmits the info to global customers. Typical for the crime family."

"Can’t wait for the Biden crime family to be gone. They will never be in power again. None of them!" remarked one.
