'RHOA' star Porsha Williams files for divorce days after enjoying a romantic vacation with husband Simon Guobadia

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Porsha Williams has called it quits with her husband Simon Guobadia after just over a year of marriage.

The 'Real Housewives of Atlanta' star filed for divorce on Thursday, February 22, in Atlanta, reports said.

The reason behind the split is not clear as the filing appears to be private. A source told People that the divorce is an “ongoing matter” while Williams still has her name as Porsha Guobadia on Instagram.

The source also said that the divorce is “unrelated to recent allegations involving Simon’s past.”

There have been rumors circulating online about Guobadia’s citizen status, but the source dismissed them as false.

Porsha Williams returns to 'RHOA' for season 16 amid divorce

Williams’ divorce filing comes shortly after she announced her return to 'RHOA' for season 16 as part of a scripted talent deal with NBCUniversal.

She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity in a statement on February 13, according to Deadline.

“I’m incredibly thankful for the vision and faith NBCUniversal has put in me to be a larger part of their family,” she said.

“I’m looking forward to being back on ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta,’ and showing the world my new world!,” she added.

She also confirmed her comeback with a TikTok video, where she joked that Porsha Williams was not coming back to 'RHOA', but Porsha Guobadia was.

 

She thanked her fans for their support in an Instagram post on February 15, where she clarified that her deal with NBCUniversal was separate from 'RHOA', which is still an unscripted reality show.

Porsha Williams and Simon Guobadia’s whirlwind romance and marriage

Williams and Guobadia had a whirlwind romance and marriage that sparked controversy and headlines.

They got engaged in May 2021 after dating for only a month. "Our relationship began a month ago—yes we are crazy in love," she wrote in an Instagram caption alongside a selfie with Simon.

"I know it's fast but we are living life each day to its fullest. I choose happiness every morning and every night.

"Tuning out all negative energy and only focused on positive wishes. He makes me so happy and to me, that is what matters most," she added to the caption. 

Guobadia wrote in his post, "You affirm my believe that finding love is possible for everyone who genuinely seeks one."

"Getting married again was never a question in my mind, but when. Did not expect to be blessed with a mate so soon," he added.

 

Guobadia was previously married to Williams’ 'RHOA' friend and co-star, Falynn Pina, which caused some drama among the cast members.

The couple tied the knot twice in November 2022. "I am ridiculously excited," Williams told People before tying the knot. "I am just so ready. I'm not even nervous," she added. However, Guobadia said he's a "little nervous."

They celebrated their first anniversary in November 2023, and Williams gifted Guobadia a diamond wedding band.

Porsha Williams and Simon Guobadia also went on a romantic vacation to Dubai in February 2024, where they shared videos and photos of themselves enjoying a car-turned-boat ride and packing on the PDA.

On the Instagram videos posted five days ago, Williams captioned one of the clips, “My ride or die ( And yes he thought he was gone die today ) #BeHisPeace.”

Before that Guobadia posted Williams's picture on February 16, on Instagram captioning it, “All Mine! My Love."

The Bravolebrity shared the same photos from the Valentine’s Day shoot on her account with the caption, “Happy Wife Happy Life Mrs Guobadias.”

However, their love story came to an abrupt end with Williams’ divorce filing, leaving fans wondering what went wrong.  Williams and Guobadia have not publicly commented on their breakup yet.
