ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA: The 'Real Housewives of Orange County' star Vicki Gunvalson recently opened out about having a "deadly" infection with a limited chance of recovery and opened up about her terrifying experience.

Gunvalson claimed that while her body was unintentionally fighting a severe illness, she was given a wrong diagnosis and sent home, which led to a period of amnesia that left her with "hours" of her life that she is still unable to recall.

In an interview with 'My Friend, My Soulmate, My Podcast' on Monday, August 26, the 62-year-old 'RHOC' star, accompanied by her partner Michael Smith, recounted her experience of being in and out of the hospital.

Gunvalson said she was with a customer last Thursday, August 22, when she started "talking gibberish," and said she seemed to have suddenly gotten amnesia.

She said, "There seems to be about an hour or two that I was missing and I don’t know where I was," adding that she had started "talking gibberish" to a client who was entering her office.

The person, a retired physician, informed Smith's office-dwelling daughter, Olivia, that Gunvalson was "possibly having a stroke."

Per Page Six, Gunvalson claimed that doctors eventually provided a wrong diagnosis of a sinus infection and she was allowed to leave the hospital later that evening

However, Olivia insisted on calling her father, who was in Scottdale, Arizona, to come home and take care of the reality star even though she had taken antibiotics.

Smith stated on the podcast that Gunvalson was lethargic and lacked awareness of her surroundings. He added that the physicians had diagnosed Gunvalson with a sinus infection, which they "kind of ran with."

Michael Smith recalls Vicki Gunvalson's diagnosis as 'one of the scariest' moments of his life

'RHOC' star Vicki Gunvalson's partner Michael Smith described the Bravo star's health problems as "one of the scariest" moments in which he discovered her "pretty much passed out" in a bubble bath.

"I grabbed her, pulled her out of the water, put her in bed. The doctor said she just needed to sleep, so I put her in bed and she slept literally 13, 14 hours straight," Smith recalled, after the doctor told him she just needed to sleep

Smith claimed that Gunvalson was "discombobulated" and unable to move when he attempted to get her out of bed, so he returned her to the hospital. "She had a massive infection. It was actually sepsis, but it was pneumonia," he revealed.

"And what happened … is that when your body is fighting that big of an infection and that dangerous of an infection, your whole body attacks it, which affects the brain and everything else in your body because your body sends everything it has to fight it," Smith added.

The Coto Insurance founder got emotional as she recalled being told by a neurologist that she had a "10 to 20 percent [chance of survival]." It was then that she realized the infection she had contracted was "deadly," even though she was able to survive it.

Gunvalson said, "I don't remember much and that's the trauma of the brain. It's very similar to a stroke or PTSD where the brain just goes into quiet mode, it just won't remember to protect you."

Per People, Gunvalson said that while she's "okay" at the moment, her recovery has left her "super low" in energy. The reality TV star also praised Smith and his daughter Olivia and said that he was "giving me my medicines ‘cause I can’t remember when I’m taking them."
