LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Taraji P Henson recently opened up about fighting for her rights and better working conditions on the sets of the Warner Bros film 'The Color Purple'. She claimed that she had to "drive" herself to work until she demanded to get a lift to the set of the new movie.

The 53-year-old star also claimed that the studio did not want to include the cast for an international press run until she fought for it too.

'I can’t drive myself to set in Atlanta'

During a recent interview with New York Times, Henson shared the treatment she and her fellow castmates received on the sets saying, "They gave us rental cars, and I was like, 'I can’t drive myself to set in Atlanta.'"

Explaining her call, she said, "This is insurance liability, it’s dangerous. Now they robbing people. What do I look like, taking myself to work by myself in a rental car?"

The 'What Men Want' star continued, "So I was like, 'Can I get a driver or security to take me?' I’m not asking for the moon," per TMZ.

"They’re like, 'Well, if we do it for you, we got to do it for everybody.' Well, do it for everybody! It’s stuff like that, stuff I shouldn’t have to fight for," she said recalling her fight for everyone in the set.

Recounting a previous experience, Henson noted, "I was on the set of 'Empire' fighting for trailers that wasn’t infested with bugs."

This was not her only point of contention as she spoke against the studio's disinterest in taking the cast members out for the movie's international press run. She also complained that she had to audition for the role in the movie produced by Oprah Winfrey.

She said, "What else do I need to do to prove my worth? Now that I’m singing and dancing for you, and I climbed up on the table 88 times with my knobby knees and had to ice my knees in between takes, what else do I need to do?"

She, however, admitted that Winfrey had to step in to solve most of her grievances. Ultimately, following her uphill battles, the working conditions improved, said Henson.

'Sounds a bit diva-ish'

Fans criticized Henson's alleged demands as they called her behavior "diva-ish."

One of the fans said on Facebook, "Don’t we all have to drive ourselves to work every day."

"All of us little people drive ourselves to work and if there’s an accident, we’ve got insurance for that!" said someone else.

Another fan castigated her in strong words, "I bet that was so hard and rough for her to do is to drive like us regular people do everyday like who cares this is nothing but rich people problems oh I didn't have a driver to drive me to set or other places it was so rough like come on lets all pray for Taraji in this hardship that she had to endure it's laughable 😂😂😂."

Someone else said curtly, "I drive to work everyday. What's her point?"

Another said sarcastically, "I feel you Taraji! I have to drive myself to work too! It's ridiculous. Yesterday, I actually had to run my own bath water!! Oh, the humanity!!"

A social media user quipped, "Oh heaven forbid. I wish I could afford someone to drive me around at times. I’m sick of people feeling entitled and crying about it."

"Wow. Imagine that. Driving yourself to work. I do it everyday. For more than 25 years," said someone else.

Another netizen observed, "Sounds a bit Diva-ish, to me!"

"She almost did a lot.... almost walked away from the role... almost drove herself.... we are almost tired of her whining...," remarked another frustrated fan.

However, another fan reasoned, "Anyone who has worked on a movie or TV show knows that the stars normally don’t drive themselves to set."
