Richard Gere reveals Alejandra Silva initially mistook him for George Clooney: 'I was happy about that'
MADRID, SPAIN: Richard Gere shared that his wife, Alejandra Silva, was unaware of his identity at their initial meeting, a moment now fondly remembered by the pair.
The renowned 'Pretty Woman' actor and Silva were recently honored with the Eco Award at the ELLE for Future 2024 event. During an interview, Gere reflected on their humorous initial encounter.

"None. She didn't see movies, which was great. I was very happy about that," Gere said while speaking. Silva then cut in, saying, "No, wait a minute. Richard, I knew who you were."
As Silva confessed that she hadn't seen many of his films, Gere retorted, "She thought I was George Clooney, but other than that, she knew exactly who I was."

At the beginning of the amusing interview, Silva revealed that Gere's 2014 film, 'Time Out of Mind,' was what made her fall in love with him. "He's so sexy there," she said, smiling.
The couple wed in a private ceremony in April 2018. They have two sons: Alexander, who is five years old, and James, who is four. Gere also has a stepson, 11-year-old Albert, from Silva's previous marriage, and a 24-year-old son, Homer, from his previous marriage to Carey Lowell, People reports.
As his family gets ready to relocate to Madrid, Spain, to be nearer to Silva's family, Gere provided an update on his life during the Wednesday, November 20 episode of 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.'
"The top of the top," Gere remarked when inquired, "How great is this chapter in your life?"
"I love my wife. She's incredible, a great mother. The kids are healthy, happy. Of course, there's nothing more than that," he remarked.
Richard Gere has been actively working as well. His new series, 'The Agency,' is set to premiere its first two episodes on Friday, November 29, on Paramount+ with Showtime, and it will air on Showtime's cable channel on December 1. Additionally, his movie 'Oh, Canada' is scheduled for a theatrical release on December 6.

The 'Pretty Woman' star beamed as he bowed in greeting to Silva, who elegantly acknowledged her husband's grand gesture, after which he reached out his right arm to her.
In an impressive display of affection, Gere even bowed his head, leading security guards and red carpet staff to take out their phones and capture the heartfelt moment.
