Richard Simmons' brother Lenny pays tribute to fitness guru as he shares 'little secret' about his burial

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA: Richard Simmons’ brother remembered the great fitness guru on the special event celebrating his life.

On Saturday, October 5, family, friends, and fans gathered at St Louis Cathedral in New Orleans joined by Lenny Simmons.

Lenny Simmons opens up about Richard Simmons' burial 

Lenny Simmons talked about “a little secret,” adding that only a few people are aware of it, per TMZ. 

"Just like Clark Kent underneath his beautiful things that he was wearing, his clothing, [Richard] is wearing a tank top and shorts," he revealed.

Lenny continued, "Why, you ask? Because we think that God has another plan for him, and we want to make sure that he was going to be in his normal costume that we all know and love to help the saints and the angels get into shape."

"So I'm here to say to you that even though he's not here and I know he's in spirit here tonight, Richard Simmons will forever be sweating with the Holies. Thank you so much for coming." Lenny wrapped up his emotional speech.

Richard Simmons' cause of death

Richard Simmons died a day after turning 76 on July 13, in an accident. The celebrated fitness icon fell in his home on July 11 and refused to seek medical assistance despite his housekeeper’s request, wanting to spend his birthday at his residence. 

The fitness star was found unresponsive on the day of the accident and was declared dead at the scene, reported People.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office in its report ruled Richard died from blunt traumatic injuries, while heart disease was also mentioned as a contributing factor to his demise.

Moreover, Tom Estey, the family spokesperson shared, “This morning, Richard Simmons' brother Lenny, received a call from the LA Coroner's office. The Coroner informed Lenny that Richard's death was accidental due to complications from recent falls and heart disease as a contributing factor,” he said back then.

Estey added, “The toxicology report was negative other than medication Richard had been prescribed. The Family wishes to thank everyone for their outpouring of love and support during this time of great loss.”
