LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Richard Simmons, who died a day after his 76th birthday on July 13, has returned to the headlines after his longtime housekeeper Teresa Reveles shared her theory about the cause of his death.

Simmons' death came as a shock to his peers and the public, given his reclusive nature in his final years. Reveles suggested that he died from a heart attack, pointing to unusual changes in his hands as evidence.

In a recent interview with People on Monday, July 29th, Teresa Reveles, who worked as Simmons' housekeeper for 35 years, shared her theory about what caused the fitness expert's death.

Notably, She was the one who found Simmons' body that morning and noticed something unusual, claiming that his hands were clenched into fists, as per Perez Hilton.

Reveles believed this indicates he had a heart attack, explaining, "That’s why I know it was heart attack. I had a heart attack a few years ago, and my hands did the same."

However, an official cause of death has not been determined, as the toxicology test results are still pending, so Reveles' theory remains just that—a theory.

Despite the tragedy, she tried to find a silver lining, noting that Simmons appeared "peaceful" when she found him and then expressed hope that he had "died happy."

Further, Reveles described herself as Simmons' "companion" and recalled how, decades ago, Simmons predicted they would be together for the rest of his life. "[Simmons said] 'Teresa, come in, you are never going to leave. We are going to be together until I die.' And you know what? His dream came true. He somehow knew."

Reveles confirmed a previous report stating that Simmons had fallen in his bathroom on his birthday, July 12. However, he declined to go to the hospital because he didn't want to spend his birthday there.

When Reveles suggested taking him in for a check-up, she recalled his response of refusing to visit the hospital, "Why don’t we wait and we do it in the morning." Reflecting on what happened hours after that conversation, she added with regret, "But in the morning it was too late."

In another conversation with People on Monday, the late fitness guru's brother, Lenny, shared his thoughts on Reveles.

"Teresa was extremely loyal and trustworthy. She loved my brother, and he loved her. We are blessed to have Teresa in our lives."
