In her emotional message, she wrote, “If I am anything at all, I am a f'ing survivor.” She described the fire’s rapid escalation, first noting the "early signs of smoke in Temescal Canyon" at 11.24 am.on Tuesday, January 7.

By 4.10 pm, Lake shared that her husband, Ross Burningham, whom she married in January 2022, had used a hose to extinguish a blaze on a palm tree at their neighbor’s property.

Lake went on to recount her survival story and her attempts to save their home, saying, “We finally surrendered our efforts and left our home at 8.02 pm. Grateful to have made it out alive and uninjured.”

She added, “No doubt, had we stayed, we would not have survived. I think I might have just said goodbye to my house."
