Rihanna says she doesn’t want a ‘Rapunzel life’ as she reflects on isolating nature of fame

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Rihanna is determined to live her life on her own terms and not be confined by her celebrity status.
The 'Diamonds' singer, 37, feels fame can be "isolating" as she likes to walk among people.
Rihanna does not want to live a 'Rapunzel' life
Rihanna shared that she and her family prefer to enjoy their everyday lives among others rather than let their stardom dictate how they move through the world.
“We like to eat with people. We like to shop with people. We like to walk the streets with people," Rihanna said in Harper’s Bazaar's March 2025 cover story interview, published on Saturday, February 22.

"I don’t like a private room. I don’t have them shut down stores. I don’t like the Rapunzel life,” Rihanna further said.
She reflected on the impact of fame. “It’s very isolating. It’s very lonely. And what am I protecting myself from?” she added.
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky prioritize normal outings
The 'Love on the Brain' singer, who has been in a relationship with A$AP Rocky since 2019, shared how they maintain normalcy despite their celebrity status.
The couple, who are parents to sons RZA, 2, and Riot Rose, 9 months, make an effort to visit local spots together.

“That’s a big thing for us and actually a really big thing for him,” Rihanna said.
Rocky often reminds her about the simplicity of their early days together.
“He always reminds me, no matter how hard everything is that we’re dealing with in our life, in our careers and as parents, he’s like, ‘Remember when we were friends? Remember when we just used to have fun as friends?’” she added, as per Page Six.
Rihanna stood by A$AP Rocky during his assault trial
Rihanna supported A$AP Rocky during his assault trial, which concluded with a not guilty verdict on Tuesday, February 18.
She attended the proceedings multiple times, despite Rocky's lawyer stating that the rapper preferred her to stay away.

“He didn’t want her there … I was sort of supporting his decision to keep her away — the trial is not about Rihanna,” Rocky’s lawyer Joe Tacopina said earlier this week.
However, Rihanna insisted on standing by her partner during the difficult time.
She allegedly told Tacopina, “You know, Joe, wild horses aren’t gonna keep me away.”
The attorney added that she wanted Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, to know that she was coming and that he should "deal with it".
Rocky was charged with two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, filed after a November 2021 incident in which a former friend said the rapper shot at him in Hollywood, grazing his knuckles.
Rocky pleaded not guilty, rejected a plea deal and on Tuesday, the jury found him not guilty of the two felonies.
