PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Former President Donald Trump praised his "great meeting" with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, announcing the ex-presidential candidate offered full support for his White House race, reported CNN.

"I am very happy to have the full and enthusiastic support of Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida," Trump wrote on Truth Social on April 29. The Republican governor met with his former primary opponent on April 28 for the first time since the latter suspended his presidential campaign in January.

Steve Witkoff, a friend of Trump's and a luxury real estate investor and developer, arranged the meeting at the Shell Bay Club in Hallandale Beach, Florida. Sources close to Trump said that the meeting occurred upon DeSantis' request.

"The conversation mostly concerned how we would work closely together to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN," Trump hinted at the discussions between the two. "Also discussed was the future of Florida, which is FANTASTIC!" he added.

"I greatly appreciate Ron's support in taking back our Country from the Worst President in the History of the United States," the GOP presumptive nominee added. "November 5th is a BIG DAY!!!"

DeSantis, who was once a close ally of the former commander-in-chief, turned critical once both entered the GOP primary race for the White House. However, the Florida governor exited the campaign after coming second in the Iowa caucus in January.

Though DeSantis endorsed Trump after exiting the race, neither of them ever came face to face for a conversation after the primary until Sunday. The Washington Post, which first reported the meeting, said it lasted several hours.

In addition, insider sources reportedly revealed that DeSantis agreed to campaign for Trump and would likely help in fundraising for the ex-president, according to the New York Post.

DeSantis is also a top contender in the short list of Trump's vice presidential picks for the 2024 race. However, the state head was uninterested in the potential opportunity. Speaking to his GOP allies in February, he said, "People were mentioning me [as a potential vice president]. I am not doing that."

Internet calls Ron DeSantis and Trump 'the odd couple'

Internet users mocked the patch-up of Trump and DeSantis while responding to Trump's Truth Social post.

One user wrote, "The odd couple. In no time at all Trump will ruin that relationship out of being paranoid." Meanwhile, another remarked, "Welcome to the creep show."

"DESATAN MUST HAVE KISSED THE TRUMP RING," a third user quipped. A fourth response read, "Ron is so enthusiastic that he’s said absolutely nothing about it."

Another user wrote, "LOL Trump went to DeSantis with tears in his eyes and begged him like a dog to endorse him."

"LOL. So a few weeks ago he was Desantimonious, a loser. Now we are buddy buddy. Man, you flip-flop these days just like Lindsey Graham. We need a President that is laser-focused, not a human Swiss Army knife," someone else wrote.

An individual asked, "Is it true that you went to him in tears?" Another remark read, "Oh no more name calling."
