NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: The family drama surrounding country singer Rory Feek has reached a boiling point after his daughter, Hopie Feek, publicly criticized him for sharing personal family details online.
Hopie, 36, took to Instagram to express her disappointment after discovering through a 23andMe DNA test that Rory is not her biological father.
While she expected an emotional conversation, she claims her only request was for Rory to “be kind and not shame” her mother. However, she says he did the opposite by posting a deeply personal blog entry about the situation, Fox News reported.

Hopie wrote in a lengthy social media post, "When I had the conversation with Rory, my one request was for him to be kind and not shame my mom. Today, he shared her private history in his blog, which is extremely disappointing."
Hopie was referring to Feek’s first wife Tamara Gilmer, who he married on August 3, 1985. The couple had two daughters, Hopie and Heidi, before divorcing on March 25, 1992. Years later, he married Joey Feek on June 15, 2002 and their daughter, Indiana, was born in 2014.
After Joey died on March 4, 2016, the singer-songwriter tied the knot with Rebecca on July, 2024, a schoolteacher who has been instrumental in educating Indiana.
Hopie remarks came in response to Rory’s blog post, "A Different Dad," where he addressed the situation head-on. Rory wrote. "I love you as my daughter and I always will."
On February 8, Hopie shared a video disclosing the results of a 23andMe test, which confirmed that Rory was not her biological father. Instead, she identified a man named B.C. as her actual father.

"I’ve never experienced unconditional love like that before," she shared in her video, speaking about B.C. Hopie also mentioned that over the past six months, she and her biological father had formed a strong bond.
Rory, 59, admitted that the revelation did not completely surprise him. In his blog, he recalled questioning his ex-wife Tamara about Hopie’s paternity years ago, as her due date didn’t match up with his return from a six-month Marine deployment. When Rory questioned his ex-wife about Hopie's paternity, she firmly insisted that he was her father.
"I’m disappointed and sad that it took three decades to learn this. But the truth is… I mostly hurt for Hopie," he wrote.
Hopie, however, wasn’t moved by his words. She also revealed that she regretted coming out as bisexual to her father, accusing him of being “hateful and judgmental” and using her life experiences "to sell books."
"From now on, I just wish my stories could be my own to tell and share," she concluded. Hopie wrapped up her Instagram post by stating, "I want to move forward and find happiness with the people who love me, far away from this online hate."

This isn’t the first time Rory Feek has found himself at odds with his daughters. In September 2023, Hopie and her sister Heidi, 37, took legal action against their father, accusing him of putting their 10-year-old half-sister, Indiana, in harm’s way and blocking communication between them.
At the time, Rory addressed the family conflict in a blog post titled "Canceled," admitting that their struggles weren’t new.
"We’ve always been a work-in-progress, and I feel fairly certain we always will be," he wrote adding, "There are things that my older daughters and I need to work out together. Right now we're at an impasse on how that's ever going to happen."

Country singer and songwriter Rory Feek recently revealed a shocking truth about his past that he had unknowingly been raising a child who was not biologically his. While Feek shared his story in a heartfelt and reflective manner, his daughter, Hopie, did not appreciate how her mother was portrayed, leading to a heated public reaction.
Supporters of Rory were quick to come to his defense, arguing that he handled the revelation with grace and respect.
One user wrote, "This daughter has some loose wires. He wrote that so graceful and respectful like he always does. Just go away, Hopie, let him live in peace."
Another fan added, "He had an amazing and graceful reaction all things considered." Others felt that Feek had every right to share his truth. "It’s also his personal story. He was lied to for years, he's the victim here! The truth isn’t disrespectful you just didn’t want him to say anything," he said.
Meanwhile, some users expressed sadness over Hopie's reaction, with one stating, "Hopie needs to grow up. He raised you, he loved you, he is your dad. You should be ashamed of yourself!"
"I read his blog. I thought he was gracious. He took the high road. His daughter needs to appreciate the fact that she didn’t end up in foster care or worse," a user said.
Another commented, "Wow!! He didn't bash her mom at all but was rather kind to her. What kept her mom from her and sister all these years? She didn't want to be a mom....period. This has to be hurtful to see that now she has her "real" dad and can so easily discard him. Makes me sad."
