Rosamund Pike’s son Solo Uniacke aims to be 'the first chinese with blonde hair'
The pre-teen, who goes by the Chinese name You Zijun, began learning Mandarin at just three years old and has since mastered 400 characters—a remarkable feat considering there are over 50,000 in the language.
While such a number may seem daunting, the average person only needs to know about 2,500 to navigate daily life.

The family’s linguistic prowess has an intriguing backstory.
Speaking on The Graham Norton Show in 2021, Rosamund revealed that her sons are bilingual thanks to Robie who taught himself Mandarin to engage with their children in a unique way.
“So he taught himself Chinese from the ground up,” she shared.
“Well, you could call it brilliant, or you could call it really stubborn, or you could call it a kind of desire for single parenting. He’s basically talking to them in a language I don’t understand, so I thought maybe lockdown was a good opportunity for me to catch up,” she added.
Rosamund Pike's powerful tribute to Chinese culture
Rosamund Pike herself has embraced Chinese culture deeply.
In 2015, while promoting 'Gone Girl,' she revealed her Chinese name, Péi Chúnhuá, given by Robie, and encouraged Chinese media to use it, stating that not doing so “would disrespect Chinese cinephiles.”
As an executive producer on Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of 'Three-Body Problem,' Rosamund has been a vocal supporter of initiatives like the Chinese Bridge contest.
In a heartfelt video released ahead of this year’s final, she commended the program:
“The organization has been so inspiring. The things you’ve done, the videos I’ve seen, the pictures, it all just looks amazing. Huge congratulations to all the children, the parents, the teachers, who’ve put in such a fantastic effort,” she said.
