Rosvin Castillo: NY man arrested for shooting ex-girlfriend and leaving her two nephews wounded

BRONX, NEW YORK: Early on the morning of Saturday, February 10, a 40-year-old Bronx woman was shot and killed in her home, while her two nephews were wounded.
According to the authorities, her boyfriend of two years, Rosvin Mejia Castillo was taken into custody by New York Police on Saturday afternoon for questioning.
Xiomara Bonilla and Rosvin Castillo had an unstable relationship
Just after five in the morning, police were called to the Bedford Park apartment on a report of an assault in progress. When they arrived, they discovered Xiomara Bonilla had been shot multiple times in the chest, according to Crime Online.
According to her family, her nephews, who are 9 and 16 years old, suffered severe injuries.
Her brother claims that the couple had an unstable relationship and that he had previously reported domestic abuse to the authorities. Castillo was arrested by investigators after they located him a short distance away.
The 37-year-old is accused of assault, attempted murder, murder, unlawful weapon possession, and endangering the welfare of a minor.
According to the family, Bonilla went out with friends, which is why the suspect got angry with her, as reported to PIX11 News. He thus demanded that she come home over several calls from her.
They say he fired when she did.
Her brother, Kelvin Reyes said, “I feel so bad because I was not here to protect my sister and he was already here waiting for her just to kill her." Both the victim and the suspect are natives of Honduras.
Xiomara Bonilla was well-known for cooking and selling traditional Garifuna dishes.
They claim that although she was always joyful and the life of the party, her happiness began to fade two years ago when she entered into a relationship with Mejia Castillo, who they claim was possessive and attempted to control her every action.
“When he was living with my sister, nobody came to my sister’s house because of him. He was a toxic person,” said Reyes.
What is the condition of Xiomara Bonilla's nephews?
The 9-year-old's condition remained stable, and the 16-year-old nephew was discharged from the hospital. It is said that Bonilla's mother required a medical sedation because she was so upset.
“She talked to me about it that she was living in domestic violence. But I could not do anything to help her. Because she was so scared that she made a report. He can do something to me after you or the police leave the house. I am so scared.”
Per the family, they want the suspect to stay in jail and that justice be served quickly. It's unclear when he will appear before a judge just yet.
