Meghan Markle shares emotional tribute video for late family dog Guy
Taking to her new Instagram account, the Duchess of Sussex expressed her sadness at losing "sweet" Guy on Tuesday, January 7.
"In 2015, I adopted a beagle from a dog rescue in Canada. He had been at a kill shelter in Kentucky and given a few days to live. I swooped him up….and fell in love," Meghan wrote in the caption, alongside a cute montage video featuring memorable moments the family spent with Guy.
"They referred to him as ‘the little guy’ because he was so small and frail, so I named him ‘Guy’. And he was the best guy any girl could have asked for," she added,
"If you followed me on Instagram back in the day, you saw a lot of him - and on The Tig too. He was with me at Suits, when I got engaged, (and then married), when I became a mom….he was with me for everything: the quiet, the chaos, the calm, the comfort," Meghan expressed.
"I have cried too many tears to count - the type of tears that make you get in the shower with the absurd hope that the running water on your face will somehow make you not feel them, or pretend they’re not there. But they are. And that’s okay too," she noted, letting her followers know that they will get to see Guy in her upcoming Netflix cooking show.
In the video pictures, Guy is seen snuggling up with Meghan in bed, cuddling with Harry, and keeping the Duchess of Sussex company while she makes jam.
Meghan concluded her tribute, writing, "Thank you for so many years of unconditional love, my sweet Guy. You filled my life in ways you’ll never know."
With only a few images made public throughout the years, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have mostly chosen to keep their children out of the spotlight.

In one adorable clip, the five-year-old Archie is heard saying, "He might fall," as the dog sits in the backseat with him and his mother while Harry is driving.
Meghan and her children, who appear to be led by tiny Archie, sing a lovely song at the end of the video, "We love you Guy! And we'll be true, when you're not near us, we're blue!" The singing heard offered fans a glimpse into Archie and Lilibet's lovely accents.
The couple's 2022 Netflix series, 'Harry and Meghan', featured Archie's American accent. The last time both Archie and Lilibet's voices were publicly heard was when they performed "Happy Birthday" to King Charles in 2023, as per The Express.
