LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ryan Reynolds' representative boldly dismissed Justin Baldoni’s lawsuit while taking a sharp dig at the 'It Ends With Us' actor-filmmaker.

The 'Deadpool & Wolverine' star, 48, has officially filed a motion to dismiss Justin Baldoni’s $400 million lawsuit, arguing that the claims are legally baseless and little more than an attempt to attack his character, People reported.

Reynolds’ rep fired back at Baldoni’s defamation claims, suggesting that Baldoni was attacking the actor for embodying the very ideals he promotes. While defending Reynolds, the rep called him “the man,” a phrase that instantly sparked criticism and mockery across social media.

In a statement, Ryan Reynolds’ attorneys Mike Gottlieb and Esra Hudson said that the conversation mentioned in Baldoni's lawsuit doesn’t legally qualify as defamation.

They argued, “The entirety of Mr Baldoni’s case appears to be based on Mr Reynolds allegedly privately calling Mr Baldoni a ‘predator,’ but here’s the problem that is not defamation unless they can show that Mr Reynolds did not believe that statement to be true.”

The statement continued, “The complaint doesn’t allege that. In fact, it suggests the opposite that Mr Reynolds genuinely believes Mr Baldoni is a predator.”

In January, Baldoni launched a $400 million lawsuit against Reynolds, his wife Blake Lively, their publicist Leslie Sloane, and Sloane's PR firm, Vision PR, Inc., citing tensions that escalated behind the scenes of 'It Ends With Us'.

In his motion to dismiss, Reynolds' legal team highlighted allegations from Lively, 37, who has lodged multiple complaints accusing the 'It Ends With Us' director-actor of harassment and retaliation.

Gottlieb and Hudson stated, “Mr Reynolds has a First Amendment right to express his opinion of Mr Baldoni, which should be comforting to a group of people who have repeatedly called Ms Lively and Mr Reynolds 'bullies’ and other names over the past year.”

The representatives for Ryan Reynolds further dismissed Justin Baldoni’s lawsuit, calling it an effort to target the actor for embodying the very principles the latter claims to uphold.

“The claims filed against Mr Reynolds are simply a list of grievances attempting to shame him for being the man Mr Baldoni has built his brand pretending to be a man who is ‘confident enough to listen’ to the woman in his life,” the statement asserted.

They further added, “We look forward to this lawsuit being dismissed and to collecting on Steve Sarowitz’s $100 million pledge by recovering Mr Reynolds’ costs and attorneys’ fees incurred to toss this frivolous case.”

On February 18, Lively submitted a revised version of her initial December 2024 lawsuit, declaring that two unnamed female co-stars from 'It Ends With Us' are prepared to testify regarding Baldoni’s alleged misconduct on set.

In response, Baldoni’s lawyer Bryan Freedman dismissed the updated complaint as “underwhelming,” criticizing it for relying on "unsubstantial hearsay of unnamed persons who are clearly no longer willing to come forward or publicly support her claims."

Meanwhile, Reynolds’ attorneys have pointed fingers at billionaire Steve Sarowitz one of the plaintiffs claiming he has pledged up to "$100 million to ruin Ms Lively and Mr Reynolds."
