LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sabrina Carpenter’s supporters have rallied around the singer after she was nominated for Catfish of the Year by controversial social media personality Hannah Pearl Davis.

Known for her divisive views, Davis, who boasts over 1.5 million subscribers on her YouTube channel, drew widespread criticism after posting side-by-side images of Carpenter on X (formerly Twitter), reported by The Daily Mail.

One image showed the 'Espresso' hitmaker in full glam, while the other featured a more natural look.

Davis labeled Carpenter a “phenomenal singer and pop sensation,” but claimed her natural appearance made her “a mid.” This post was part of a larger thread targeting several female celebrities for allegedly altering their looks through makeup or filters.

Fans quickly condemned Hannah Pearl Davis’ remarks, calling them mean-spirited and unnecessary.

“Bro these pictures are literally years apart. don't hate bc she doesn't have a baby face anymore. find a recent no makeup pic at least,” one fan clapped back, while another said, “Sabrina actually looks better without all the makeup... and you are just a sad little human."

Another wrote, "Still hot and actually looks better on the right."

"Sabrina was like 15 in the no makeup one and still ate you down," a user said.

Another user wrote, "Big L on this one. Good effort though. Sabrina is adorable in both pics."

One wrote, "Right side is also 100% better in this case. she is naturally good looking unless this is a severe photoshop. terrible example if you are trying to suggest she is mid or ugly," while another commented, "I dislike her, but that's misleading. In the photo without make up she's clearly younger, please get your facts right until then don't post stuff like this."

Despite the online drama, 2024 has been a banner year for Sabrina Carpenter. Her sixth studio album, 'Short n’ Sweet', became the third most popular album of the year, and her infectious singles—'Espresso', 'Please Please Please', and 'Taste' dominated the charts, spending a combined 21 weeks at number one.

Carpenter also contributed to a historic milestone for female artists, who held the top position on the singles chart for a record-breaking 34 weeks, according to the British Phonographic Industry.

While Davis’ “catfish” comments aimed to diminish Carpenter’s accomplishments, fans and critics agree that the singer’s talent and hard work speak for themselves.
