Sabrina Carpenter's restraining order against 'dangerous' stalker raises celebrity safety concerns
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sabrina Carpenter has received a temporary restraining order against an alleged stalker who reportedly tried to enter her Los Angeles home.
The man in question is 31-year-old William Applegate, who’s accused of visiting the singer’s home multiple times for over a month before appearing at her front door "unannounced and uninvited" on May 23. He also tried to enter forcefully but was arrested by the cops.
Sabrina Carpenter accuses stalker of having 'dangerous and irrational fixation on me'
A Los Angeles court on Monday, June 1, accepted Carpenter’s request for the order after she requested it on Friday.
In her complaint, the 27-year-old singer wrote that Applegate’s “delusional insistence that he knows me and was expected by me is indicative of a dangerous, delusional, and irrational fixation on me. His pattern of stalking, trespassing, and surveillance has caused me severe and ongoing emotional distress, and I am in fear of what he may do if he is not restrained by this Court.”

Carpenter also mentioned the May 23 incident in her complaint, stating “despite being confronted by security and subjected to repeated, unambiguous demands that he leave the property, Applegate defiantly refused to comply.”
“He then fabricated the outrageous and entirely false claim that he personally knew me and that I was expecting him. This was a complete lie,” she asserted.
The ‘Espresso’ hitmaker further alleged in the request that the accused parked outside her home two more times after his May arrest. “This is not the behavior of someone who stumbled upon my property by accident. This is intentional stalking and surveillance directed at me and my residence,” she added.
Taylor Swift's stalker claims singer had his baby
Meanwhile, celebrities getting restraining orders against stalkers is not something new. In the past, many stars have faced safety issues because of stalkers.
Last year, Taylor Swift was given a permanent restraining order against a man who appeared at the pop icon’s Los Angeles home several times and also claimed that Swift had his baby.
The singer, 36, was granted the five-year protection order against a Colorado-native Brian Jason Wagner, 45, in September, months after a temporary order was issued.
In her filing, Swift had mentioned, “During each of these visits, I am informed that Mr Wagner made various statements about living at my property (not true), being in a relationship with me (not true), believing I am the mother of his son (not true), and needing to see me in person, all of which are untrue and disconnected from reality.”
She also added that the stalker’s activities made her "fear for my safety and the safety of my family."
