'Sad I’m not there to celebrate you': Nicola Peltz reveals reason for her absence from mother-in-law Victoria Beckham's 50th birthday bash

LONDON, ENGLAND: Nicola Peltz took to her Instagram Story to clear the air about why she had to miss the 50th birthday party of her mother-in-law Victoria Beckham.

Before fans started speculating about a potential rift between the two women, the 29-year-old wife of Brooklyn - Victoria’s son with retired English footballer David Beckham, explained by sharing that she was spending the weekend with her grandmother and thus had to miss the former Spice Girl’s milestone birthday.

Nicola Peltz reveals the reason for her absence

The ‘Lola’ actress shared two posts on Saturday on her Instagram Story revealing the reason for her absence. In the first image of the sequence, the actress shared an adorable picture of her with her grandmother and captioned the photo, “My world in my arms," per Page Six.

In a follow-up post, Nicola shared a family picture of the entire Beckham clan and wrote, “Happy Birthday to my beautiful MIL @victoriabeckham. I’m so sad I’m not there to celebrate you and hug you! Sending all my love from me and Naunni.”

The photo features the entire Beckham clan including Victoria and David Beckham, 48, their sons Brooklyn, 25, Romeo, 21, Cruz, 19, and their daughter Harper, 12.

Though Nicola missed out on the star-studded birthday party attended by several A-listers including Tom Cruise, Eva Longoria, Salma Hayek, Marc Anthony and Gordon Ramsey, she previously wished her mother-in-law on the day of her birthday on April 17.

Sharing a picture of the duo, the ‘Bates Motel’ star wrote on her Instagram, “Happy birthday to my beautiful mil @victoriabeckham i love you so much and love being your dance partner forever 🩷🪩🎂.”

Indeed, just a few weeks ago, Victoria shared a short clip of her dancing with her daughter-in-law as the family was vacationing during the Easter break.

Nicola Peltz and Victoria Beckham allegedly had a rocky start

While Victoria and Nicola currently share a sweet relationship, there were rumors that the duo got off on the wrong foot ahead of the ‘Holidate’ actress’s marriage to Brooklyn in April 2022.

The alleged feud between the two stemmed from the choice of wedding dress as instead of choosing a dress from Victoria’s collection, Nicola chose a Valentino dress for her marriage.

However, the actress dismissed the rumor of their rift during an interview with Variety in August 2022, where she revealed, “I was going to and I really wanted to [wear a design by Victoria], and then a few months down the line, she realized that her atelier couldn’t do it, so then I had to pick another dress.”

She added, “She didn’t say, ‘You can’t wear it'; I didn’t say 'I didn’t want to wear it'. That’s where it started, and then they ran with that.”

Brooklyn also added his insight on the matter as he told the outlet, “I’ve learned they’re always going to try to write stuff like that,” before adding, “They’re always going to try and put people down. But everyone gets along, which is good.”
