LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Stephen Colbert delivered a passionate defense of late-night host Jimmy Kimmel during his Wednesday night monologue, responding to a recent outburst by former President Donald Trump directed at Kimmel.

Trump, still stung by Kimmel's Oscar jests, utilized his Truth Social platform to criticize Kimmel's role as the host of the awards show, labeling him as the "WORST HOST EVER OF THE ONCE VAUNTED ACADEMY AWARDS."

Stephen Colbert's defiant defense: 'Keep my friend's name out of your mouth'

Colbert didn't hold back in his response, delivering a pointed message directly to Trump: "You keep my friend Jimmy Kimmel’s name out of your weird, little, wet mouth."

The late-night host, visibly annoyed, expressed his unwavering support for Kimmel, identifying him as a podcast brother from the 'Strike Force Five' ensemble, a podcast they shared alongside Jimmy Fallon, John Oliver, and Seth Meyers.

Defending Kimmel's role as the Oscars host, Colbert praised his performance and even managed to insert a humorous jab about the modest increase in viewership, humorously noting a four percent rise.

Continuing his critique, Colbert also aimed a jab at Trump's obsession with the Oscars over pressing political matters, proposing a potential campaign slogan: "Trump 2024: They Gave It to Green Book??"

Celebrating camaraderie: 'Strike Force Five' podcast stands strong

Colbert highlighted the camaraderie of the 'Strike Force Five' podcast, which formed during the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes to provide support for unemployed writers.

Although it only ran for 12 episodes until the end of the WGA strike, the podcast made a lasting impact, showcasing the solidarity among late-night hosts during difficult times.

In Colbert's passionate defense and funny remarks, one thing was obvious: Trump's criticisms of Kimmel won't go unanswered in the late-night world.
