NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Tucker Carlson is not the type to offer praise for New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani. The former Fox anchor made a bold prediction about the Democrat leading NYC in a recent interview that has gone viral.
Carlson described Mamdani's win as “the saddest thing I’ve ever seen” and expressed concern that the city could be “destroyed” in an instant. He compared New York to other cities and questioned whether a similar fate might affect its 8 million residents.
Tucker Carlson raises concerns about Zohran Mamdani’s leadership in NYC
Commenting on the recent New York mayoral update, Tucker Carlson said, “Our biggest city. It’s 8 million people. Cities are incredibly complex organisms, take centuries to build… but can be DESTROYED very, very quickly.”
He voiced his concerns more strongly, comparing New York to other cities such as Johannesburg, Detroit, Gary, Indiana, and Baltimore, suggesting that New York could face a similar decline under Mamdani’s leadership.
“Look at Johannesburg. Thirty years. And it’s a husk. It’s a joke. And it was a beautiful city. Look at Gary, Indiana, Detroit. Look at almost all of our cities, Baltimore. And that could happen to New York City very soon. In fact, IT WILL. I have a child who lives there. Called me today, [said] ‘I’m leaving.’ Not an ideological person.”
“It’s just like, we know where this is going because it’s happened in dozens and dozens (of cities). In fact, it happened to almost every single big city we have. And now it’s happening to our biggest city. And it’s just the greatest tragedy. And I feel like it doesn’t have to happen,” Carlson concluded.
Zohran Mamdani wins NYC mayoral race at age 34, defeating Andrew Cuomo
The 34-year-old Democratic Socialist, Mamdani, won the mayoral race against former Governor Andrew Cuomo, with results announced on Tuesday, November 4. His victory has sparked mixed reactions.
President Donald Trump called Mamdani a “communist” during the CBS '60 Minutes' interview segment. Andrew Cuomo also criticized him, saying Mamdani has never held a real job and may struggle with the demands of running the city.

Even CNN’s Scott Jennings shared his perspective on Mamdani’s win. In a panel discussion, Jennings described the new mayor as a “great actor” and referred to him as a “rich kid.” He also noted that Mamdani has “all the energy behind him.” Jennings added that some members of the Jewish community are concerned and feel scared because they believe he has labeled them as the “oppressors.”
CNN's @ScottJenningsKY on Zohran Mamdani: "I'm going to compliment your guy. He's the greatest actor you have. You know, he turned himself into a hood ornament for the poor and the downtrodden. He's a rich kid who is a great actor. He -- he play acts. He play acts"
