LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sam Asghari has reflected on his tumultuous marriage to ex-wife Britney Spears, describing her conservatorship as the “most difficult” and “weirdest thing” he faced during their time together.
The 30-year-old actor shared that he initially believed Spears’ immense fame would pose the greatest challenge in their relationship.
Britney Spears' conservatorship was the 'most difficult' thing, says Sam Asghari
Britney Spears, who was under a conservatorship from 2008 until November 2021, married Sam Asghari in June 2022.
Asghari opened up about his reaction to Spears’ conservatorship on 'Sibling Rivalry' podcast, saying, “One day I start learning about what the conservatorship is, and that’s when I was like, ‘Wait a minute. I thought I’m in America. What do you mean someone over the age of 18 needs permission from their parents?’” he said.
He questioned the concept, adding, “That was the most difficult and weird spiral thing that I’ve witnessed in my life.”
Sam Asghari says he is 'grateful' for the relationship with Britney Spears
However, their union ended in divorce in August 2023 and was finalized in December 2024. Despite their marriage ending, Sam Asghari revealed he had no regrets about his time with Spears.
Reflecting on their relationship, he said, “I’m always gonna be grateful and happy that it ever even happened.”
The actor also explained how he tried to support Spears during their time together.
“I think the best thing to do is to provide support in that moment and that’s what I did, I provided as much as I could,” he said, as per Just Jared.
He continued, “This was my experience in life that I had to go through very gently because if you do anything wrong, you say the wrong thing…”
Sam Asghari opens up on being 'vulnerable' to close people in life
Sam Asghari also opened up on the darker side of the entertainment industry, revealing the struggles of dealing with people who take advantage of other's vulnerability.
“One of the hardest things, I think, to deal with when you go into entertainment is your parents and the people around you, and everything that happens, and everybody that comes into your life that’s taken advantage — that damages you because those are the people that are closest to you,” Asghari said.

He shared how those close to a person can sometimes exploit their vulnerability, adding, “Usually, the people that are around you, the people that you allow into your circle, you kind of are vulnerable to them.
"They take an advantage because they think, you know, you owe something to them or something, which is so ridiculous," he added.
