LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: After a year of dating, Sam Smith and their fashion designer boyfriend Christian Cowan have called it quits, and according to reports, the singer is back on the celebrity dating app Raya.
After being spotted together at a party in New York on December 14, Sam and Christian have now split up, with the singer hoping to find love in the new year, as reported by Daily Mail.
The pop star has reportedly started passively considering their choices and is optimistic that they will find a new lover in 2024.

The 27-year-old fashion designer Christian and the five-time Grammy Award winner initially became acquainted in January 2023, and they have since been spotted together in London, New York City, and Paris.
It was Sam's first romantic connection in the public eye following their breakup with 30-year-old '13 Reasons Why' actor Brandon Flynn and their 2019 non-binary identity revelation.
An insider told the Daily Mail, "Sam and Christian decided to end their relationship before Christmas. They're still friends and will continue to support each other in their respective careers but for now they have separated."
About the singer being on the celebrity dating app, the source added, "Sam has signed back up to dating app Raya and is already connecting with new people... it's a new year and fresh start for them."

How did Sam Smith and Christian Cowan meet?
Sam and Christian first connected when the clothes designer worked with Sam on the costumes for their song video 'I'm Not Here to Make Friends' in January 2023.
The singer publicly displayed their affection for the British designer on Valentine's Day by dressing entirely in Christian's creations at his New York Fashion Week show.
They were seated in the first row with other famous guests Lil Nas X and Bella Thorne, looking stunning in a bright red jumpsuit, sequin jacket, and platform heels.
In January 2023, while strolling arm in arm through New York, Christian—whose clientele includes A-list celebrities like Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B, and Heidi Klum—confirmed his relationship with Sam with a kiss.

Sam had earlier dated '13 Reasons Why' actor Brandon Flynn. However, the couple broke up in 2018 after just eight months of dating.
An insider told The Sun at the time, "They really fell for each other but they are both so busy with their careers and unfortunately things just haven't worked out. Sam is obviously devastated. This is the most significant relationship they have ever had."
In 2019, Sam came out as non-binary, following their split from Brandon.
