NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Sara Haines claimed Prince Harry is facing the consequences of speaking out against the royal family as his plea for reconciliation remains unanswered, on the Monday, May 5 episode of 'The View'.

The Duke of Sussex stepped back from his royal duties and moved to the United States with his wife, Meghan Markle, in March 2020, following which they sat down for a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures decided to scale down Harry's protection in the UK after his departure. He had launched a legal bid against the move, offering to pay for his security expenses himself, but the appeal was recently rejected by the court.

Prince Harry shared he hopes for reconciliation with family during BBC interview

Shortly after losing his security bid, Prince Harry appeared for a candid interview with the BBC on Friday, May 2, where he stated, "I would love a reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has."

King Charles has been battling an undisclosed form of cancer since February 2024. The 40-year-old claimed that he was not on speaking terms with the 76-year-old monarch at present.

Harry blamed the royal household for influencing the court's decision to reduce his security, adding, "I can't see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point."

"The things they’re going to miss are, well, everything. I love my country. I’ve always had, despite what some people in that country have done. I miss the UK. I miss parts of the UK. Of course, I do. And I think it’s really quite sad that I won’t be able to show my children my homeland," the father of two further shared.

Royal experts have recently claimed that Prince William is aware of his brother's request, but simply refuses to act on it.

'The View' co-hosts discuss Prince Harry's situation

Sara Haines pointed out on 'The View' that Prince Harry has not been "promised reconciliation" following his public plea.

"It was important for him and Meghan to have a say in what people knew about their story, which was important," she said. "But, I do think now, looking at it from the royal family, which is not relatable for me, you don’t break with — as Meghan called it — the firm."

“They came out and they did a sit-down [interview] with Oprah, they did a book, they did a documentary. I think the levels in which the royal family, who’s all about pent-up tight secrets — which, I’m not saying, is the right way to do it — there were gonna be consequences. And I think, sadly, this might be one of them," Haines expressed.

Haines agreed with her co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin, who observed that Harry “acted in the interest of his family” by speaking out, without realizing “he was giving up the rest of his family for the rest of his life.”

Sunny Hostin joined the conversation, saying, "There cannot be reconciliation without truth. So, yes, he wrote the book, yes, he told his side of the story. We haven’t heard from the other side, but I don’t think he should be punished for telling his truth because I do really believe there is no reconciliation without that.”
