Sarah Snook says she was 'too young and naive' to call out producer who body-shamed her
In a recent interview with the outlet, the 36-year-old actress revealed that a film producer reprimanded her in front of the entire cast and crew for eating the "tiniest bit of chocolate cake."
Despite a costume designer's support who encouraged the 'Succession' star to continue eating, she said the incident left her "dying inside."
Snook revealed that, at the time, she was "too young and naive" to confront the producer who body-shamed her.
"That’s the unfortunate situation when a person is in a position of authority taking advantage, mindlessly saying something that could be taken the wrong way and taken on in a certain context that holds with that person for the rest of their life," the actress added.
Sarah Snook admits she once agreed to alter her diet 'to be successful'
The 'Jessabelle' actress admitted that she once agreed to bring changes in her diet after she was made to believe that "in order for me to be successful, I have to be all the things that aren’t me."
Snook recalled an instance when a casting director asked her to make changes in her appearance and to lose weight.
"We don’t really want you because you’re a nobody, but the director and the writer think you’re good for the role," she recalled the conversation with the casting director.
"So what we’ll do is change all of you so that you’re marketable: We’ll whiten your teeth, darken your hair, we’ll give you a personal trainer so you can lose weight and look the part," the casting director told her.

The Australian actress, who is best known for her role as Shiv Roy in 'Succession', grabbed the 2023 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series shared that she no longer follows any dietary restrictions imposed on her during shoots.
"I eat whatever I want, it’s my own body and my own choice," said Snook as she now challenges the industry's unrealistic standards.
