Saweetie and YG call it quits after seven months of dating as they choose to remain friends, claims source
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: One of the most beloved yet low-key couples in recent hip-hop history, YG, and Saweetie, appears to have broken up.
Representatives for both artists reportedly told TMZ that they thought it would be better for them to be friends after they chose to call it quits on their nearly seven-month relationship.
Furthermore, based on these reports, it appears that neither of them is actively looking for a new partner at this time and would want to put their careers first. The West Coast MCs confirmed their relationship in May 2023 after a few months of romance rumors.
Saweetie had dated the Migos rapper Quavo for about two and a half years before her brief romance with YG.

YG and Saweetie 'feel as though they'd be better off as friends'
According to sources close to both musicians, Saweetie, 30, and her lover YG, 33, decided it would be best to remain friends after an approximately seven-month relationship ended, per The Shade Room.
The sources added that the pair, who were last spotted together on a Beverly Hills trip in December 2023, "both feel as though they’d be better off as friends."
The source went on to clarify that one of the reasons the rappers thought their relationship would not pan out was how busy they each were with their careers.
Saweetie and YG had even been scheduled to collaborate on a joint tour with Tyga. The three later canceled the tour in September 2023, despite the intentions having been revealed in the summer of 2023, per Daily Mail.

In May 2023, the former couple gave rise to dating rumors after they were spotted kissing while on vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. However, it wasn't the first time they were seen together.
Saweetie and YG were reportedly spotted cuddling at Coachella in April 2023 after Saweetie attended YG's birthday party in March. Later that month, they were spotted out to dinner.
Following their sightings getting cozy at Coachella in April 2023, many started to believe that Saweetie (real name: Diamonté Quiava Valentin Harper) and YG (born Keenon Dequan Ray Jackson) were a real thing.
Saweetie dated Quavo for at least a few years before YG. She announced via X (formerly Twitter) in March 2021 that she was "single."
YG experienced his notable relationship, dating Kehlani for a few months from 2019 to 2020. Eventually, the two also called it quits after Kehlani accused him of cheating.
Internet reacts to YG and Saweetie's breakup announcement
Though their relationship was short-lived and the postponed tour reduced the rappers' opportunity to showcase their collaboration, several commenters on the Shade Room story claimed they were unaware the rappers were dating.
Social media users did not waste time and took to the online platform X to express their opinions on the latest hip-hop romance split, with one exclaiming, "I’m surprised."
A second X user said, "We knew that wasnt going anywhere tho," while a third one chimed in, "She was just out with breezy too lmao she move quick."
"Nah that’s false he terminated her contract . Now she is working to cbreezy company," speculated a fourth one.
Another one questioned, "They was dating?" unaware of the rappers' dating status.
One more snarked, "Yg punk ass sending stories to the blogs about a breakup and Saweetie never even claimed him. She never posted him either!"
