LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Saweetie, the outspoken and controversial rapper, has recently shared insights into some challenging moments from the past few years in a new interview. As she gears up for a fresh musical era, she reflects on experiences that haven't been all positive.

In a recent cover story with Allure published on Thursday, February 29, the rap star known for 'Richtivities' revealed the reasons behind the delay in releasing her highly anticipated 'Pretty B***h' music album, shedding light on why she hasn't dropped any album in that context.

What did Saweetie say?

In a conversation for a new cover story with Allure, she said, "I just feel like nobody was caring about my music,” referring to the people surrounding her.

“To me, music is sacred. It’s coming from your spirit. You can’t just go finish an album in a week. That’s why it’s taking me so long. That’s why I haven’t dropped an album yet.”

The rapper revealed that while juggling business relationships with companies like McDonald's, MAC Cosmetics, and Crocs during the past few years, she felt like she was under perpetual scrutiny. She also acknowledged that, in her opinion, a lot of her music was receiving harsher and faster criticism once it was released.

"I don’t mean to dampen the mood,” she told the outlet. “But this is, realistically, how my career has been. We were constantly criticized for every drop. I was just very insecure. I’m a confident woman, but I was a very insecure artist.”

“There’s been a lot of times these past couple of years where I’ve given up on myself,” she later added. “Whether people knew about that or not, I just felt myself giving up, and I don’t want to do that anymore.”

Internet reacts to Saweetie's statement

Ever since the interview was out, it garnered wide attention from Netizens.

A user said on X, "First artist that’s self-aware." Another user motivated her by saying, "Sweetie, God is your strength."

Another user opined and said, "Female artist when they realize being pretty is not enough to make it in the music industry."

A user chimed appreciating the rapper, "We need more artists like this." While the next user said, "We love self-awareness."
