EAST BRUNSWICK, NEW JERSEY: ‘School of Rock’ child stars Caitlin Hale and Angelo Massagli are now a married couple, more than two decades after starring together in the 2003 movie.

Caitlin Hale and Angelo Massagli, both 33, said “I do” to each other on 4 January at a ceremony attended by their co-stars at the Park Chateau Estate & Gardens in East Brunswick, New Jersey, as reported by The New York Post

Both of them were only ten years old when they first met for Richard Linklater’s film that also starred Jack Black as a struggling musician-turned-substitute teacher who builds a rock band of elementary school children.

Caitlin Hale played the character of Marta, the band’s backup singer, in the movie while her now-better-half played the part of Frankie, aka the “Tough Guy.”

The pair is no longer into acting as Massagli is now a lawyer and Hale works as an OB-GYN ultrasound technologist.

But Hale had impressed Massagli from the time they met during the audition process.

“I remember my first audition for School of Rock like it was yesterday. I get in there and the little blonde girl next to me, she gets called in first and she starts singing show tunes and just blows the roof off the place. It was excellent,” Massagli said during an Inside Edition interview, as reported by Us Weekly.

Also, Massagli shared with The New York Times, “I was like, ‘Wow, that girl’s really, really, really something else'.”

Caitlin Hale and Angelo Massagli met in 2018

After the shooting of the movie ended, the child actors remained in touch via a long-running group chat.

However, Hale and Massagli only began dating after meeting each other in 2018 while pursuing degrees at universities in Florida.

Massagli reportedly said, “We thought that was kind of it. But we just kept grabbing dinners and going out for the weekends. We were like, ‘something’s brewing here'.”

“Even though it wasn’t romantic, that familiarity we had and our families had when we were younger, really cut through some of those early relationship hurdles,” he added.

But Hale was sure about Massagli from the start. She shared, “I knew very early. I actually said to one of my close friends, I remember being in an Uber on the way down to Miami one weekend and we were going out and I was like, ‘I think I’m gonna marry this guy'.”

The couple ended up getting engaged in June 2023 before tying the knot last week.

Rivkah Reyes, who played Katie in the movie, reportedly shared a video from the wedding on TikTok and captioned it, "Celebrating the marriage of CAITLIN & ANGELO with my forever fam."
