LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK: Sean Hannity brought down the house at the 2025 Fox Nation Patriot Awards with a surprise parody aimed at New York City’s newly elected mayor, Zohran Mamdani

The Fox News firebrand dubbed the new mayor “Comrade Marxist, Commie Mamdani,” as he set the tone for a bit that had the crowd howling.

Sean Hannity dedicates song to New Yorkers sad over Zohran Mamdani's win

After taking a few swings at New York’s crime and bail reform policies, Sean Hannity confessed he’d spent one sleepless night wondering how to process Zohran Mamdani’s victory. The cure was apparently writing a parody of Frank Sinatra’s iconic “New York, New York.”

“I printed it out, rewrote the words, and even had it professionally recorded,” Hannity told the audience. “Some of you living in New York City are sad and depressed. So I thought, how can I help?”

Hannity asked the entire Tilles Center crowd to stand for what he called a “30-second sneak peek.”

On the big screen rolled new lyrics, crooned by singer Joe Pags. “Start spreadin’ the news, I’m leaving today… I no longer want to be a part of it, high-tax New York," it read. “These commie Mamdani political fools are longing to leave…”

The crowd erupted in laughter and applause as Hannity waved them off. “That’s enough!” he said, cutting the clip short, before teasing, “If you want the whole song, you can download it on Hannity.com. I’ll put it on FoxNews.com.”

Setting the patriot stage

The 2025 Patriot Awards kicked off on Thursday, November 6, with a sold-out crowd.

“This is unlike any other award show,” Hannity declared. “We’re not patting ourselves on the back like Hollywood. We are here to honor America’s true patriots… the single best country that God our Father above ever gave man.”

His opening monologue showered praise on America’s everyday heroes, from service members to first responders to folks who keep the nation running. But one name in particular that brought the audience to its feet was Charlie Kirk.

“These heroes allow us to chase our God-given talents and dreams,” Hannity said. “And it would not be complete without remembering our friend Charlie Kirk.”

Backstage, country star Jason Aldean shared a laugh with Hannity. “He asked me to join his performance,” Hannity quipped. “I told him that would ruin your show!”

The veteran Fox News host then invited Pastor Danny Duran of the Evangelical Christian Academy to the stage for a spirited invocation. “Obviously, this is not a public school. You can mention God. What a shocker," Hannity remarked.

Melania Trump steals the spotlight

First lady Melania Trump took the stage to accept the coveted “Patriot of the Year” award. She followed in the footsteps of her husband, President Donald Trump, who was last year’s winner.

Melania was recognized for her ongoing work protecting children from AI-driven exploitation and her quiet efforts to help secure the release of Ukrainian children taken by Russia during the war.

“I think that for any first lady, it’s a very hard position,” Hannity said in a pre-show interview. “She’s got this quiet dignity about her, and is an absolutely brilliant human being.”

He added that Melania’s behind-the-scenes diplomacy was “remarkable,” noting that many Americans had “no idea she played a role in back-channeling for the children’s release.”

When she finally took the mic, Melania praised “American dreamers and innovators who embrace originality,” earning cheers from the crowd.
