WASHINGTON, DC: Sean Hannity, who had earlier criticized electric vehicles, angered many people online after he spent almost a minute seemingly advertising Elon Musk's Tesla during an interview with him.

The world’s richest man appeared on Fox News on Tuesday, March 18, to talk about the rescue mission of astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore who were stuck on the International Space Station (ISS) for over nine months. They were brought back to Earth in a SpaceX Dragon capsule.

However, Hannity soon diverted away from the topic and said, "I think you know, it was pretty public that I bought one of your Teslas," as reported by HuffPost.

Sean Hannity calls Tesla the 'greatest car ever invented'

The conservative television presenter continued, "It’s like the greatest car ever invented. It really is, and I’m not just saying that. It’s self-driving, it’s got 1,000 horsepower, it goes from 0 to 60 [mph] in 0.2 seconds."

But Musk interrupted him and claimed that the electric car actually takes two seconds to reach from 0 to 60 mph. "Still, it’s pretty fast. That’s for sure. It’s faster than any Ferrari, for example," he added.

Hannity did not stop there as he went on to state that he thought of his Corvette Z06 as "the greatest muscle car" but "No, it’s not. I watched the [Tesla] S Plaid beat it." He recently bought paying $85,000 after taxes and fees, following in President Donald Trump's footsteps to show support for Musk as his company faces boycott threats.

Internet slams Sean Hannity as he gushes about his new Tesla S Plaid during Elon Musk interview

Netizens immediately took to social media to drag Sean Hannity for gushing about Tesla during an interview about the rescue mission.

One quipped, "Imagine spending $50K+ on a car just to impress Elon Musk for one-second of acknowledgment," and another wrote, "These are two separate portions of Sean Hannity's interview with Musk. At this point, Tesla should probably be paying Fox ad money."

A person sarcastically remarked, “That’s some hard-hitting journalism!" while someone else added, "Hannity in a Tesla? I'd hate to be on the road at the same time as him. I'm sure he feels he always has the right -of-way."

"This is the cringiest Hannity has ever been," another comment read. One more claimed, "This is unbelievably corrupt on so many levels."

"Same people that were against electric cars," a person pointed out, referring to Hannity's past criticism of electric vehicles. "Every Maga hates electric cars, but all of a sudden now they love electric cars, funny how that works," one more stated.

"After complaining about EVs for years, the Republicans now want them," another person said.
