WASHINGTON, DC: Fox News host Sean Hannity called out Democrats for 'vilifying' former President Donald Trump, following the failed assassination attempt on him on Saturday, July 13.
Trump was speaking at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, during the weekend when 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire at him. A bullet grazed Trump's right year before he crouched down and was surrounded by Secret Service agents.
While the GOP nominee remained relatively unharmed otherwise, the incident took the life of one rally-goer and critically injured two others. The incident has been condemned by leaders across party lines around the country and across the globe.
Both Trump and his political rival, President Joe Biden, have called for bringing down the political temperature of the country and focusing on uniting of the country in the light of the event.
Sean Hannity's message for Democrats
"Let's be very clear here, Joe Biden and other top Democrats - they are not responsible for the actions of a deranged lunatic, I want to be clear," the Fox News host stated on Monday, July 15. "But this insane political demonization has to stop."
"Democrats, the state-run media mobs, they need to start being honest. Donald Trump is not putting democracy in peril. He is not trying to be a dictator for life. He is running on lowering the people's taxes, generating economic growth, energy dominance, getting rid of Biden inflation, finally securing our border- the single greatest national security threat we have."
"He is trying to get rid of the insanity of the no-bail laws, and defund and dismantle and reimagine the police," he continued. "Donald Trump wants to make America great for all Americans. Remember 2016? It's about the forgotten men and the forgotten women in this country."
"You may disagree with the politics, but enough with the lying," added Hannity.

Internet calls out Sean Hannity's 'hypocrisy'
Netizens slammed Hannity over the social media platform X while reacting to his take in the aftermath of the assassination bid on Trump. They called upon him and Trump to dial down the violent rhetoric as well, as the following tweets demonstrate.
"Trump and Hannity need to dial back the hateful violent rhetoric. Trump was shot by a Republican, at a Republican rally, with a gun he shouldn't have had. Liberals aren't your enemy. We disagree and we must relearn how to sit down and solve problems. Trump shouted "fight fight fight" after he was shot. And Hannity wants to blame Democrats!" wrote a user on X.

"Repeating his own words is not demonization," chided a fourth.
"People actually think this is why it happened. Trump caused this by being so divisive for 8 years. It’s his own fault. Case closed," commented a fifth.
