'Seen it coming': Internet sad as Backstreet Boys' AJ McLean announces split from estranged wife Rochelle DeAnna McLean

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: AJ McLean revealed that he and his estranged wife Rochelle DeAnna McLean have decided to divorce each other following the announcement of their separation nearly a year ago.

Taking to Instagram, the 45-year-old wrote, “As you all know we have been separated for over a year now. While we have hoped for reconciliation we have decided to officially end our marriage.”

‘Our focus now is moving forward in the healthiest way possible’

AJ continued, “It is with deep love and respect that we have made this decision.

“Our focus now is moving forward in the healthiest way possible with friendship and co-parenting our girls at the forefront of this next chapter,” he said.

AJ added, “We appreciate your kindness, respect, and privacy at this time.”

The same statement was posted by Rochelle on her account as well.

The two got married in 2011 and are now parents to two children — 11-year-old Elliott and 6-year-old Lyric.

‘Hope both of them find happiness’

A lot of people commented online on AJ and Rochelle’s divorce with one Facebook user saying, “This makes me sad. I had hoped for a different outcome but I ultimately want what’s best for them & the girls.”

Another user shared, “The 1st of the guys to divorce. He's always been my favorite and he's never hidden his demons. I wish him and his family the best.”

The third user remarked, “Sadly people fall out of love for many reasons, hope both of them find happiness.”

The fourth user commented, “Seen it coming years ago. Not sure why everyone is so surprised?! I do wish they could have worked it all out because it is sad all the way around, but things happen and people unfortunately grow apart. Aj getting sober, all the newfound activities and so on all at once there really wasn't room to work on their marriage. Hopefully, they can remain good co-parents and do what's best for their kids without issues. Sending them all much love.”

“As long as the other person/half isn’t happy in a relationship he/she has the right to move on in life ,,, life’s for living and be happy,” the fifth one added.

‘The plan is to come back together’

This came after in March 2023, the founding member of the Backstreet Boys and the hair stylist reportedly stated, “Marriage is hard but worth it. We have mutually decided to separate temporarily to work on ourselves and on our marriage with the hope of building a stronger future.”

The duo had also added, “The plan is to come back together and continue to nurture our love for one another and our family. We ask for respect and privacy at this time.”
