Seth Meyers 'genuinely touched' as 'Late Night' crew celebrates his 50th birthday with surprise party
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY: Before Seth Meyers hit the big 50 on December 28, his team organized an intricate surprise bash on December 7th.
A video shared on the show's YouTube channel captures the host on his way to what he believed was a low-key dinner with his manager. To his surprise, it turned out to be a grand celebration in his honor.
A birthday that began 'with a lie'
A note at the beginning of the video reveals that Meyers "was told he would be attending dinner with his manager and agent after the taping of Corrections." However, “This was a lie.”
In reality, his staff had orchestrated a surprise by turning Studio 8G into a lively party venue.
Upon his return to the 'Late Night' set, fresh from delivering the 'Corrections' segment, Meyers discovered a birthday wonderland. The familiar set had been magically converted into a festive space, complete with additional crew members eager to join the celebration.
Adorned with 50 glasses, the setting featured pizza, assorted treats, and festive balloons. All this unfolded while Meyers took a break from filming the online segment of the show.
As Meyers unfolded his birthday card, filled with inside jokes about his cue cards, his astonishment was evident in the gathered crowd.

Expressing genuine gratitude, Meyers seemed visibly moved as he addressed the crowd, his words carrying a heartfelt tone.
He began, "I’m without words. I genuinely can’t believe how surprised I am. Walking out here and seeing all you guys, I also want to say it’s very special to be with you all. Thank you so much. I'm really — I'm genuinely touched.”
Since 2014, the 'Saturday Night Live' alum has been the face of 'Late Night', a role he took on after bidding farewell to his time at SNL's 'Weekend Update' desk.
Beyond the usual lineup of celebrities and politicians on 'Late Night,' Meyers occasionally brings his own family into the spotlight. During Thanksgiving, his three children—Ashe Olson (7), Axel Strahl (5), and Adelaide (2), shared with his wife Alexi Ashe—delighted both family and fans by dressing up as turkeys.
