LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In the world of politics, the race to the top can be both thrilling and unpredictable. For Ron DeSantis, however, the conclusion of his campaign in the lead-up to the Iowa caucus was nothing short of humiliating.

Late-night comedian Seth Meyers recently shed light on the bizarre turn of events that unfolded behind the scenes, revealing an unexpected twist that left the audience in stitches.

DeSantis' super PAC

At the heart of the embarrassment was the head of DeSantis' super PAC, called Never Back Down. The irony, however, was hard to miss as Meyers delved into the details of how the campaign's leadership failed to live up to the bold name of the organization.

"Just before the Iowa caucus, the head of DeSantis' super PAC, which was hilariously called Never Back Down, was seen spending most of his time at campaign headquarters on something that was not campaign related," Meyers wryly remarked.

Jigsaw puzzles over campaign strategy

Meyers hilariously recounted that just before the crucial Iowa caucus, the CEO and chairman of Never Back Down seemed to have lost sight of the campaign's primary objective.

Instead of focusing on campaign-related activities and strategizing for the upcoming caucus, the super PAC's leader was engrossed in a rather unexpected pastime – assembling a thousand-piece jigsaw puzzle. The comedian spared no time in delivering the punchline, emphasizing the absurdity of the situation.

"Multiple staffers from the headquarters of the DeSantis Iowa operation, their field operation, run by Never Back Down, reached out to me and my producer, Abby Brooks, and said that the CEO and chairman of that organization was spending a significant amount of time in those final critical days working on a thousand-piece jigsaw puzzle," Meyers disclosed showing a news clip.

Jigsaw puzzle saga

According to the insiders from the DeSantis Iowa headquarters, the CEO's attention was diverted from the campaign's critical final days to the tranquil pursuit of fitting together puzzle pieces.

Meyers humorously recounted the dire situation where staffers, panicking over plummeting poll numbers, pleaded for urgent action.

"We need to do something. Our poll numbers are cratering!" one distressed staffer exclaimed.

To which the response was, "You think you got problems? I picked a puzzle with clouds!"

The comedic juxtaposition of political urgency against the trivial nature of a jigsaw puzzle painted a vivid picture of the campaign's chaotic final days.

Meyers didn't miss the chance to highlight the sheer irony of a super PAC named Never Back Down succumbing to such a frivolous distraction when the stakes were at their highest.

The audience laughed as the comedian showcased an actual picture of the CEO diligently working on the clouds-themed puzzle, further cementing the campaign's failure.

Diverse reactions to DeSantis' campaign conclusion

In the aftermath of Ron DeSantis' campaign taking an unexpected nosedive, social media became a battleground of opinions and quips.

One user wrote, "DeSantis should NOT be allowed to abort his campaign."

Another wrote, "Newsom was correct when he told DeSantis: 'One thing I'm sure of, neither of us is going to be elected President in 2024."

One replied, "For a guy against abortions, Desantis sure was quick to abort his campaign."

"As a trans woman, I find it gratifying that Ron DeSantis' campaign has been forced to desist," wrote another.
