Shakira responds to rumors that a 'jar of jam' exposed ex Gerard Pique's alleged affair
LONDON, UK: Shakira settled a rumor concerning how she found out about ex Gerard Pique’s alleged cheating. The ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ singer said in an interview with Sunday Times that the claim that her ex-partner's cheating was exposed by a jar of jam was “not true."
The Spanish footballer and singer were together for 11 years before they ended their relationship in June 2022. They share two sons, Milan, 11, and Sasha, 9.
Gerard Pique allegedly cheated on Shakira
Gerard Pique made his relationship with Clara Chia Marti official after splitting with Shakira. Meanwhile, the Spanish icon released a music video ‘Te Felicito’ with Rauw Alejandro just two months after the breakup.
In the video, the singer can be seen looking in her fridge, which had the fans speculating that maybe the song hinted at how Shakira learned about Pique’s and Marti’s relationship.
The same year the ‘Chantaje’ singer addressed the 'fridge story' on ‘This Morning’. She said on the TV show that she looked in the fridge "to find the truth." And "It is when I go to the fridge and find the head of Rauw Alejandro."
Spanish TV show ‘Socialite’ hinted that Shakira got to know about Pique’s infidelity after returning from a trip and noticing "some of her jam was missing."
Shakira says she put her career on hold for Gerard Pique
In her interview with Sunday Times, the ‘Beautiful Liar’ crooner talked about how her career was impacted by her marriage. “For a long time I put my career on hold, to be next to Gerard, so he could play football. There was a lot of sacrifice for love," the 47-year-old explained.
Shakira also promoted her new Spanish album ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women No Longer Cry).’ The album is set for release on Friday, March 22 by Sony Latin. Shakira described her album as, “the transformation of pain into creativity, frustration into productivity, anger into passion, vulnerability into resilience."
She further said, “There were so many pieces of my life that crumbled in front of my eyes and I had to rebuild myself in a way, picking up the bones from the floor and putting them all together. And the glue that kept it all together was music.”
