WASHINGTON, DC: As fighters traded blows inside the Octagon on the South Lawn, Sheryl Crow was taking verbal swings at Donald Trump, condemning his UFC Freedom 250 event.

The 64-year-old Grammy-winning artist shared a post on Instagram Stories on Monday, June 15, decrying the White House's historic South Lawn celebration as tone-deaf to the struggles many Americans face.

The unprecedented mixed martial arts showcase was held on White House grounds as part of the nation's 250th birthday celebrations and Trump's milestone 80th birthday on Sunday, June 14.

Sheryl Crow slams White House UFC event

Sheryl began her fiery rant with stark words, saying, “To stay quiet means to turn a blind eye. And so I am saying this.”

"What happened last night on the lawn of the White House was disgraceful and void of decency. Powerful, rich people filled the lawn to watch a violent sport that ended with a vile and racist comment,”

“All while the average American cannot afford healthcare, gas, and the cost of living,” the singer continued.

The "racist comment" Crow referenced was made by UFC winner Josh Hokit, who sparked backlash when he ended his post-fight interview by declaring, "And lastly, Michelle Obama is a man. Am I right, America?"

She then broadened her criticism, taking aim at the administration and urging Americans not to be distracted by the spectacle surrounding the White House UFC event.

“Do not be fooled. This administration is corrupt and does not give a damn about the American people,” she wrote.

“It only cares about making money hand over fist at the expense of, and in spite of, our democracy. If we continue to support this kind of distraction from reality, we are no better than them. Let’s be better, America,” the singer continued.

Sheryl Crow and Trump’s long-running feud

Crow has never been shy about her opposition to Trump, having criticized the president on numerous occasions over the years.

Earlier this year, she called for Trump to be impeached and imprisoned over his ties to Jeffrey Epstein after his name reportedly appeared more than 38,000 times in the Epstein Files.

"Those named in the Epstein files in other countries are going down hard for it. Not in America. We're just going to act like it never happened or that it's fake,” she said in an Instagram post.

"Who are we if we do not stand up for children who are knowingly being [peddled] to rich leaders all over the world. Trump needs to be impeached and imprisoned along with every other person … Democrat, Republican, American or foreign who knew this was going on and never said anything,” she continued.

Last July, Crow released 'The New Normal,' a politically charged song that took aim at today’s political landscape, referencing Trump as the "leader of the free world" while drawing parallels to George Orwell's dystopian classic 1984.
