WASHINGTON, DC: Republican presidential contender Nikki Haley took a swipe at former President Donald Trump over the recent GOP election losses, reported The Hill.

In an interview on NewsNations's 'The Hill Sunday', the former UN ambassador accused Trump of hurting the party's chances in elections, citing multiple contests across the US since he entered the White House.

"Since Trump took office, since he became president, [Michigan] lost the governorship, they lost the state house, they lost the state Senate from there. I went to Minnesota, the exact same thing happened, Haley said, adding, I went to Colorado, no Republican has gotten over 45 percnet statewide since Donald Trump became president. You go to Virginia, same thing Glenn Youngkin was able to win governor but he had to keep Donald Trump away from him."

"This is the fact that everything Donald Trump does, he loses," she argued.

Republican party suffered a major setback in the November 2023 election at key battleground states, including Kentucky, Virginia, and Ohio, as per ABC News. Furthermore, the party also lost a House seat to Democrats in a special election in February on the seat previously held by ousted lawmaker George Santos.

Nikki Haley on her lead against Joe Biden

Further into the interview, the former South Carolina Governor highlighted some polls that put her ahead of President Joe Biden, claiming she is a stronger candidate than the incumbent.

"I defeat Joe Biden by 18 points. This is more than the presidency. It's House, it's Senate, it's governorships at school board. It's about getting our country back on track because if you go in to DC with a double digit win, you go in and you stop the wasteful spending happening by Republicans and Democrats and get our economy back on track," Haley said on NewsNation.

Haley's claims came ahead of the March 5 Super Tuesday, where Trump is expected to have a decisive victory when more than a dozen states will vote to choose the GOP nominee.

In the two-person GOP primary race between Trump and Haley, the former had established himself as the nominee to potentially face Biden in November. Out of all the caucuses and primaries so far, the former UN Ambassador could only win in Washington, DC, despite her determination to stay in the race.

Internet ridicules Nikki Haley

One user wrote, "Except for his primaries against you. He seems to win those like I’m.. checks book… every single time."

"That’s hilarious @NikkiHaley has lost 8 primaries and that’s after blowing $76 MILLION, she’s a clown," another person wrote.

A third user added, "Well, Trump is beating Haley like a drum."

"Ah so Trump is responsible for weak candidates that can’t win? Oh wait is Trump to blame for Nikki Who being a loser? Hmmm so Nikki is blaming others for her failures - how original!" a fourth remark read.

Someone else mocked Haley, saying, "She’s a good one to be talking about LOSING," and another questioned, "Speaking of losers how many primaries have you won so far @NikkiHaley."
