LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Taylor Swift has once again become the talk of social media as Disney Plus secured the rights to her 'Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour' movie for a whopping $75 million. The substantial sum paid by Disney Plus to stream the concert film left internet users astounded.

Furthermore, Swift garnered praise for the potential impact of her appearance at the Super Bowl, which is reshaping advertising by attracting new viewers, particularly women and younger audiences.

Beauty brands like L'Oreal and Dove are capitalizing on this trend by investing in Super Bowl commercials, despite the $7 million price tag, to reach a broader demographic, highlighting how brands are leveraging Swift's influence.

However, amid the praise, trolls haven't held back from targeting Swift and her partner, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Recently, they criticized Kelce and Swift after the tight end addressed questions about the parking issue involving the singer's jet on the day of the Super Bowl.

Disney+ pays $75 million to earn streaming rights to 'The Eras Tour' film

According to reports from Variety, Disney has secured exclusive streaming rights for Taylor Swift's 'The Eras Tour' on Disney+ worldwide, reportedly paying over $75 million for the privilege. Puck News, citing anonymous sources, corroborated this figure.

The report indicates that Disney successfully outbid competitors such as Netflix and Universal Pictures, which previously handled digital/VOD distribution for the film.

According to Variety, Disney has opted not to disclose details regarding the streaming deal for 'The Eras Tour'. Additionally, a representative for Swift has not yet responded to inquiries.

Variety reveals that 'Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour' achieved remarkable success following its wide theatrical release on October 13, 2023, grossing a staggering $261.7 million globally, thus becoming the highest-grossing concert film to date.



 

Filmed during the first three Las Vegas shows of the Eras Tour from August 3 to 5, 2023, the original theatrical release of the 2-hour-and-45-minute film excluded several songs from the performances.

The expanded version of 'The Eras Tour' is set to premiere on Disney+ on March 15, featuring bonus songs such as 'Cardigan' from Swift’s 2020 album 'Folklore', along with four acoustic tracks. However, neither Swift nor Disney has disclosed the titles of these additional songs yet, according to Variety.

During the company’s recent earnings call, Disney chief Bob Iger expressed, as per Variety, "We know audience are going to absolutely love the chance to relive the electrifying ‘Taylor Swift: Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version)’ whenever they want on Disney+."
