Internet praises Kirsten Dunst for saying she’d do another superhero movie as it pays ‘a lot of money’
LOS ANGELES, CAIFORNIA: Kirsten Dunst, who is known for playing Mary Jane in the 'Spider-Man' trilogy, reveals that she is eager to do another superhero film. Fans have praised her for being 'real' as she acknowldges that working in superhero films is lucrative.
In an interview with Marie Claire, Dunst responded with “Yes" when she was asked if she would do another superhero film. With all honesty, the Oscar-nominated actor explained her reason for doing them.
Kristen Dunst would love to do another superhero movie
In a latest interview with Marie Claire, the 41-year-old 'Jumanji' actress said that she’s finally at a stage in her career where she no longer feels “nervous” speaking her mind.
She said, “I feel at home sharing everything on set now.”
Compared to Dunst's experience on the 'Spider Man' set decades earlier, this is a major shift. When Dunst was a young actor, she lacked the courage to voice her concerns.
She even cited an example where she was repeatedy being called a "girly-girl" on the Marvel set.
"It was a joke, but on ‘Spider-Man,’ they would call me ‘girly-girl’ sometimes on the walkie-talkie. ‘We need girly-girl.’ But I never said anything,” Dunst said.
“Like, don’t call me that!”
Dunst added that “you didn’t say anything” on sets at that time, especially before the #MeToo movement, and “you just took it.”
She also said that it was a conscious choice not to “capitalize off the ‘Spider-Man’ thing” and become a “movie-star-movie-star".
“That’s great for some people. It’s not the artist that I want to be,” said Dunst, who decided to go the indie route and team up with auteur filmmakers like Sofia Coppola and Lars von Trier.
“It was just growing up and migrating to things that spoke to me. I always just navigated with my heart.”
It's fair enough to say that Dunst would love to appear back in superhero movies today. She was asked if she would do another superhero movie.
“Yes,” Dunst said, “Because you get paid a lot of money, and I have two children, and I support my mother.”
Additionally, fans will see Dunst in Alex Garland’s buzzy action drama 'Civil War,' which 'A24' is releasing in theaters and Imax this spring.
She will be seen playing a photojournalist covering an escalating war in a divided America.
