WASHINGTON DC: Meghan McCain slammed former President Donald Trump for mocking her late father, John McCain, for injuries that he sustained while being a prisoner of war in Vietnam.

Responding to Trump's mockery, Meghan shared a post on X praising her father.

"My dad was an American hero. An icon. A patriot that will be remembered throughout history," she wrote.

"I cannot buy a bagel without someone approaching me about how much they loved and miss him."

Continuing the post, she blasted the Republican presidential frontrunner, stating, "Trump is a piece of sh**, election denying, huckster whose own wife won't campaign with him."

Trump ridiculed the late Senator and the Navy Officer while speaking to his supporters at the 'Commit to Caucus' rally in Newton, Iowa, on Saturday, January 6.

While criticizing him for Obamacare, he imitated McCain's hand injury from an aircraft crash and lack of treatment while being in a Vietnam prison until 1973.

Meghan McCain pledges to not vote for Donald Trump

The former 'The View' host took to X again, responding to a tweet questioning her voting for Trump.

She replied, "I would rather saw my arm off with blunt glass than vote for Trump."

According to USA Today, Trump has had a long-standing feud with McCain. On multiple occasions, the former President refused to call him a war hero because he was captured.

Adding to this, Meghan also shared a rivalry with Trump.

During her father's funeral in 2018, she made many indirect references to the then president.

As per CNN, her eulogy read, "We gather here to mourn the passing of American greatness, the real thing, not cheap rhetoric from men who will never come near the sacrifice he gave so willingly, nor the opportunistic appropriation of those who live lives of comfort and privilege while he suffered and served."

The former president's mockery of the late lawmaker drew widespread criticism online, where many attributed his "jealousy" to his never-achievable respect compared to the latter.
